Learning Math with Tablets
Funded Nov 16, 2018Thank you for your generous donations to my projects.Having the Fire Tablets in my classroom has helped make the learning process interactive and has been a great motivator to complete work. I teach my students to have patience and share, but having access to only one tablet limited the access they had to learning games. They now know that they will be able to use the tablets multiple times per week.
My students love the app, SumDog. This allows them to play games that integrate basic math facts at all levels. I am able to set the game to quiz them on specific
Technology is everywhere!
It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn! The Fire Tablets and the applications they support will engage my students in the learning process. Students, especially those with different learning styles, will be able to access information more easily.”

Funded Dec 3, 2018Thank you for your generosity. These materials will help me bring much needed resources to the classroom. Most importantly, resources that are on my students instructional and independent reading levels. I am also excited to be able help them track their goals and see everything they are able to accomplish.”

Funded Nov 10, 2017Your generous donations have made a world of difference in the learning atmosphere in our classroom. The wobble chairs allow the perfect amount of movement for our students so they can remain focused throughout class. Some of our students like to rotate among the seating options and others have found their "just right" seat. We have students that could never stay seated throughout a lesson and would sometimes roll on the floor. Now, our students are able to focus and we have seen an increase in work output.”

A Study of Mystery through Alfred Hitchcock
Funded Oct 25, 2010This is a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books and movies you provided have helped my students expand their knowledge of the mystery genre. We use them in every class session. The large volumes of Hitchcock's favorite suspense and mystery short stories has allowed my students to read independently, in small groups, and in a whole-class setting. They have shared the differences between the stories, and which they like better and what makes it intriguing. My students were riveted to their seats during our viewing of Rear Window. While the ending was predictable, Hitchcock has a special way of capturing your attention and making you second guess how the story is going to end.
Without your help, my students would not have had the opportunity to read such a large volume of short stories or view what can be considered some of the greatest movies in cinematic history.
Thank you again for supporting my class and DonorsChoose.”

Funded May 15, 2010Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students loved using the pedometers. I had been struggling to get them to walk faster, but once they were able to see how many steps they were taking, they wanted to walk more every week. I am happy to say that not only were my students walking in our class, but they decided that they wanted to take the pedometers home and try to increase their activity outside of school. They all set new personal goals and I am happy to say that they exceeded them.
The flip camera added excitement and education to our walks. My students took turns videotaping our walks. After our walks we watched the clips that had been made and shared our feelings about the different neighborhoods. With the videos we were able to see details that we might have missed on a casual stroll.”

Knitting For Those In Need
Funded Oct 20, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donation to our knitting club. I am excited this year to have students rejoin the club as well as many students joining for the first time. The yarn you have donated has helped us to make scarves and blankets that will be donated to local shelters and hospitals. We have had several new students join the club just this week in order to help make blankets to donate to Haiti.
While knitting is generally an individual activity, it is amazing how the students love doing it together. They talk about what is going on in their lives, and really learn how to interact with each other in a respectful and caring way. Each week, every student is excited to see the progress that others have made on their projects, and always find positive ways to support each other.
Thank you again for all that you have done for my classroom and other classrooms across the United States.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Schatz
