  • P is for Printer: Let's Print Some Voices

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you for your donations. Your generosity has allowed my students to gain access to one of the most basic necessities for all students- visual supports filled with vibrant colors! This printer allows my students to have the supports they need to foster their love of learning whether it is a printed copy of the Fitzgerald key with color coded symbols or a communication board with symbols to aid in language comprehension. If it weren't for all of you, my students would not be able to communicate as effectively as possible. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Espada-Esposito

This classroom project was brought to life by Emerson Collective.
  • Access Granted: Now Entering the Digital Age

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you for your compassionate donations to my classroom. You have allowed me to kick start the 2021-22 school year with both, printable and digital materials and resources that will engage my students as they transition back to in-person learning. As we all know, students learn best when they are engaged and challenged at their levels. With these TPT gift cards, my students will have access to a variety of resources made for them by none other than the best in the field-teachers. While my students don't know it yet, they are in for an adventurous year full of learning thanks to you!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Espada-Esposito

  • Survival of the Bronx Kids- A Bronx Tale

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

Thank you for supporting my students with your generous donations. Your generosity has provided me with the opportunity to utilize a reliable laptop to deliver remote speech-language therapy. Thanks to you, I have developed visually engaging speech-language lessons that promotes active participation during sessions.

My students are always eager to come to speech; they truly enjoy being immersed in the lessons due to the visual effects made possible by the green screen. In addition, the audio quality provided by the headset allows my students to hear and focus primarily on my voice.

Thank you for your support! You've truly helped make a difference in my students' lives and I will forever be grateful to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Espada-Esposito

My students need access to an iPad that can be used to serve as their voice while their individual speech generating devices are being repaired. As with every human being, we all tend to make mistakes. Although there are no mistakes without consequences, my students do not deserve to be without a voice even if it is temporarily. My students are high school students who are all diagnosed with Autism. As many may know, with Autism, communication skills are significantly impacted. In addition to their communication skills, my students’ sensory needs are often compromised and at times, their sensory system may be overstimulated by environmental stimuli’s which causes an unwanted response (i.e., throwing objects within proximity). As an educator, my students’ needs come first. They rely and require the consistency of their daily routines to generalize the learned concepts offered by the communication applications on their iPads. Without their iPads, my students experience regression to a degree that makes it difficult to teach new core words and skills needed for functional communication in addition to hindering their communication.
