I have 25 first graders. My students are in a Title I school where 98% of the students receive free lunch. This means my students' parents do the best they can but, often times, they just do not have time to help their children with school work because they have more than one job. This reason alone is why I want to make my classroom as interactive as possible. I want my students to have a place they can have fun and learn so they won't have to think about what they don't have. I can tell my high energy and love of learning has trickled down to my students. Not only are my students eager to learn but they won't hesitate to reach out and help teach their classmates. We often have student led class discussions, student led lessons, and student led tutoring groups within the class. I also take rap songs and change the words to fit a lesson we are studying. I won't stop until my classroom's environment is fully interactive to ensure I have prepared my students today for global success tomorrow.
