Builders in Need of Bricks
Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you again for your generosity. My students are LOVING the building bricks. They have been engaged in various engineering projects. My fourth-grade students designed marble mazes and brought them to life with the bricks. They created and improved their mazes and had fun completing their peers' mazes.
Fifth-grade students also learned about the Engineering Design Process with the bricks. They built a new tourist attraction in town by designing, building, and testing Lego ziplines. They improved their designs to keep their "passengers" safe and had so much fun in the process.
My kindergarteners used the bricks today to build an apple and a tower to go along with Dr. Seuss's book, Ten Apples Up on Top. Having individual boxes of bricks allows students to continue improving their engineering skills while keeping them safe. Thank you so much for your donations!!”

Funded Feb 25, 2021I am speechless and in tears! I've been wanting to put these snap circuit kits in the hands of my students for the longest time. Thank you for making this dream a reality! The student learning and engagement will be through the roof for many years during this unit because of your generosity! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Giftedness and Leadership
Funded Sep 24, 2020Thank you so much for your support! Because of you, my students have just completed an engaging leadership unit. They researched and wrote an essay on the leader of their choice. They've also completed a leadership project at school after learning the units from the texts you purchased! My third and fourth-grade gifted students chose to create and 3D print ornaments to sell in our school's Christmas store to raise money for our school. My fifth and sixth-grade students have started a news broadcast for our school as their leadership project. They are doing amazing things because of your help! I've also loaned the Gifted Kids text and workbook out to a few students to help them with some social/emotional issues. Thank you again for your wonderful generosity!”

Engaging Engineers
Funded Sep 22, 2020Thank you so much for your support. Because of you, my high school robotics team now has the necessary equipment to compete this year. They are busy working in their engineering notebooks. They are drawing blueprints for their robot and taking notes of their practices. They will take their notebooks to competitions to be scored. They are also using the tin snips to cut the metal structural pieces needed in order to customize their robot. Thank you again for your support! They are engaged and excited about this unique learning opportunity!”

Speedy Solvers
Funded Mar 1, 2020Thank you so much for the Rubik's cubes!! ALL my students love them! We have been using them in class to learn the complicated algorithms in order to solve them. This has also helped my students learn a new vocabulary word - algorithm! They enjoy expanding their vocabulary with interesting words!
My 7th and 8th graders are using them not only in GT class, but also for the Math class. Their math teacher challenges them to learn how to solve the cube by the end of junior high. In GT, once they learn how to solve the cube, they then stretch their creativity by designing and creating their own mosaics. This would not have been possible without your generosity. Thank you again!!!”

3D Printing for Aspiring Engineers
Funded Sep 23, 2019I wish you could personally see the transformation the 3D printer has made in my classroom. My students are engaged and inspired in each unit involving the printer. My third and fourth-grade students have completed a unit in which they designed a business model for a food truck. Part of the unit included printing a model of their food truck. It was hard work, but they persevered and created intricate design elements. In the process, they practiced various math skills required to bring their creation to fruition. My 5th-8th grade students are now begging to do the same unit, but I have other plans for them which include opening up a 3D print shop for our school. Teachers will be able to order materials needed for their classroom such as fidgets for students, models for lessons, and whatever other need that may arise! Thank you so much for your generous donations. You have opened a whole new world to my students in my little farm town.”

Funded Jul 26, 2019Thank you again for your very generous donations!! It has been wonderful to hear the excitement from my students when they see the robots in action. You have sparked a computer science movement in my school. Since I have the opportunity to teach all students in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade, 250 kids cannot wait to learn more about coding robots. We have started our computer science unit this week, and students will be creating challenges for Dash and Dot very soon. They love listening to Dash and Dots different voices, and they love driving them around the classroom. This is brand new technology for many of my students. You have brought a brand new experience to them. So again, I say thank you. Your generosity has inspired all of the elementary kids in our small community. You have helped plant a seed that I will get to see grow and blossom throughout their school career!”

Funded Jul 27, 2017You have helped make an impact on each child at my school. From the Kindergartners to the fourth graders, they are all LOVING the new Makerspace classroom, and the Lego Wall is the first thing they see when walking through the door. Students have been engineering, designing, and creating in this new space. On the Lego Wall, they have been building floor plans, writing their name, and building rockets, boats, and cars. The greatest thing I've seen so far is students highly engaged, working together, and learning without even knowing it. Thank you so much for supporting our school and this project. It will continue to make an impact for many, many years!”

Biographies Needed!
Funded Dec 26, 2013Thank you so much for the sets of books related to the Civil War. My students were SO excited to learn about this time period in American History, and because of you, they had the resources they needed. Macy said, "I can't believe that someone bought us so many books!" You made her feel so loved. Chase said, "Wow! I love the Magic Treehouse series!" You made his day!
In February, which is Black History Month, I introduced the Civil War. To do this, my students read Civil War on Sunday. This built their background knowledge about the Civil War and the reasons for fighting. After building their background about this time period and racial strife, my students then met in their reading group to read the books about Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Jr. This furthered their understanding. We had the best class discussions about the Civil War, and deep discussions in reading groups that really made my students think about what it would be like to be discriminated against.
This project boosted my teaching because you made the resources available that allowed me to further my students' understanding. In third grade, they have very little, if any, knowledge of the Civil War. It's crucial to begin building the foundational understanding at this age, and finding age-appropriate materials can be difficult. Thank you again for all of your support. My students and I appreciate you more than you know!”

Smile! You're On Candid Camera!
Funded Mar 6, 2011The cameras have been a valuable addition to our classroom. I am so thankful for supportative individuals that believe in quality education in public schools.
The cameras you have funded have enabled students to record important educational events at school. They have been a tool that has engaged each and every student. We have used the cameras to document our scientific experiments and to take pictures to include in our digital stories. My students have found new reasons to use them daily!
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
