  • Diverse Books for Language Learning

    Funded Oct 19, 2023

My students' learning has been reinvigorated with these new additions to our library. They have been fully engaged during read alouds of captivating stories about characters who look like them.

I have used "Windows," a book about a boy walking through and observing his urban neighborhood, to work on sentence formulation and "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind," a true story about a boy who brings water and electricity to his Malawian village, to teach figurative language.

I can't wait to continue to develop lessons using the rest of the books in this special collection. Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hartt

  • Evidence-Based Vocabulary Intervention

    Funded Dec 16, 2023

Thank you for supporting my project! These books will help me to make tangible changes in how I provide therapy and give my students a better chance at developing strong vocabularies and becoming skilled readers. I will think of generous people like you as I gain new knowledge and implement more effective intervention practices.”

  • Essentials for Visual Learning

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you for your continuous support of my students! Due to budgetary constraints in our district, it has been difficult to get the essential basic materials I need to do my job effectively. All I wanted for Christmas was laminating pouches and you made this clinician's wish come true. I can't wait to get to work making lasting visuals for my students to support their communication needs. Your remarkable support will surely make a lasting impact. I am sincerely grateful for your generosity.”

  • Gamifying Speech and Language Therapy

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you again for your amazing generosity. It's hard to overestimate the power of a motivating game and its effect on learning. I can't wait to see my students actively engage with these activities and each other as they develop essential speech and language skills. I love to have my students practice formulating sentences and using descriptive language as they teach their peers how to play an unfamiliar game. They will now have so many opportunities to do this! I am so grateful for your support.”

  • Something to Talk About

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you for your incredibly generous support of this project. You are putting much needed pretend play materials in the hands of students who will not only light up, but immediately benefit from engaging with them as they learn to express themselves. I'm quite sure that our therapy sessions will be infused with renewed energy and enthusiasm thanks to your support. I am beyond grateful!”

As a speech-language pathologist, I service nearly 70 students with a range of communication disabilities in grades PK-5. Many of the students I work with are nonverbal and use augmentative communication devices. A vast majority of my students come from low income households and have limited resources outside of school. Speech and language therapy gives students the communication skills they need to succeed both academically and socially. My students always come to my room ready and eager to learn. They all have incredible potential to learn and grow with the right support and resources.
