Ready, Set, Read!
Funded Feb 8, 2022I cannot thank you enough for your kind donation to my classroom. Your generosity has made a truly significant impact on me and my students. Right away we were able to incorporate the letter tiles and tiny mirrors into our daily word work, and students were able to see more clearly how to form letter sounds and words. It adds a little fun to the lesson when we can make a silly face, too! The phonics-based reading games were a total hit with my students. They love using these as a way to review skills, and I had two students choose this as a free time activity one day as well.
The headphones and mouses for our class chromebooks have been so useful. I spend a lot of time working with my students individually and in small groups, and, while I'm working with them, my other students are often on individually paced programs to help them. The headphones have been so key in aiding the students to focus during that time. Additionally, I have a couple of students who have more severe struggles with fine motor skills. The computer mouse has been so much more accommodating for them versus the mouse pad on the chromebook.
As a teacher one of the greatest moments for me is that moment when you can see your instruction "click" with a student. You can see that they "get it". This past year, I had one who really struggled with learning to read, so he would never seek out reading books during free time. I pulled out the "Catstronaut" books for him because I knew that he liked cats, and they are highly engaging. Finally...a connection! He loved those books and really dove into reading them. He even encouraged a couple of friends to check them out and asked the school librarian to get some. My students and I sincerely thank you for your contribution to our project.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Dover
