Let's Build Some Art
Funded Mar 22, 2013Thank you so much for your donation to my project. My fourth graders are so excited to work on this beautification project for our media center. (OH! How I wish you could have been there when I told them that we were getting canvases for the media center! The joy of their response was almost magical!)
I am always looking for ways to incorporate art instruction into other areas. This beautification project is perfect for that. We are not quite finished with it however. When the new school year arrives, the fifth graders will pick up where they left off as fourth graders. The photos show my fourth graders working on some ideas for the canvases and some examples of other projects from the school year. The deadline for the thank-you package was set (by me) too early. This was absolutely unintentional. I had every intention of finishing this project with my students before school ended. Unfortunately, with state testing and end of the year programs, it just did not happen. Thus, I felt it important to use the photographs as a way to show you the types of things that go on in my classroom. I know that after you view those photographs, you will have no question about the amazing work my students will produce with these canvases.
The upside of this is that those awesome fourth graders will definitely look forward to finishing this project when they come back to school in the fall. It is always wonderful to give the students something to look forward to. Isn't it?
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for my students and my school. I frequently share happenings from my classroom on my blog There's a Party in the Art Room (Blogspot). Please check back there for finished canvases!! I want you to see how your donation impacted my students!

Painters Need Paint!
Funded Feb 11, 2013Thank you all so much for your generous support of my art classroom. I am constantly trying to find ways to bring higher quality art activities to my school and specifically my classroom. This Donor's Choose project was for acrylic paint. We are so thankful to have this because acrylic paint just takes the student painting to another level. We now have plenty of acrylic paint to do several things. The fourth graders used it to work with their mixed-media koi. You can see some of those in the photographs. We are also going to paint canvases with this acrylic for our media center.
I want you to know how much I truly appreciate your support. Thank you on behalf of my students!”

Funded Nov 5, 2012I just can't thank you enough on behalf of my students for the projection camera and other supplies. That camera has made a huge difference in the way my students learn. They can see so much better now. Visibility of teacher demonstrations had become a real problem in most of my classes because of the number of students in each. This camera remedies that. I am so grateful to you for your support of my classroom. Thank you for supporting art in elementary education!
We will continue using this camera with our upcoming art projects! Thank you so very much.”

Small Hands, Big ART
Funded Feb 20, 2012Thank you so much for the donations. When I started this school year, as a first year art teacher, I found that the art classroom was lacking in resources and materials. I also found that the art budget was very small. So, in order to provide my students with a quality art education, I had to search out funds for our projects. We were so blessed to receive your donations in order to complete a unit on Gustav Klimt. The second graders did a project based on his Baby (Cradle). The third graders did a landscape in his unique style. The fourth graders made a design poster based on his Adele Bloch-Bauer I. And, the fifth graders created their own Tree of Life. My students and I thoroughly enjoyed these projects and thank you profusely for helping us create!”

Quality Reading Materials for Diverse Learners
Funded Mar 6, 2011I cannot thank you enough for your donation to my classroom. I wish you could have been there the day the books arrived to see the looks on my first graders' faces. Their little eyes lit up and they had the sweetest smiles. They were truly excited to receive the books. As I wrote in my proposal, I teach small group guided reading. Each student gets to borrow a copy of a book and they get to take it home to read to their parents. However, the set of books that I was using were over 6 years old, falling apart and missing many copies. This really limited the quality of reading instruction I was able to provide. Since I didn't always have enough copies of each book, I only had a small selection to choose from for each reading level. With your generous donation, my classroom now have a plethora of reading material from which each child can benefit.
On behalf of my first graders, I thank you!”

Science! Science! Science!
Funded Oct 5, 2010I can't begin to thank you enough for your donation. Before, my students had virtually no access to science resources. Now, they are able to have independent science centers every week. We have studied the states of matter, animal groups, magnets, the human body, and more. I am proud of the things they are learning, they are proud of themselves, and you should be proud of them too. Thanks to your donations, they are able to explore science objectives with hands-on, engaging materials.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
