Robotics, Programming and I
Funded Apr 1, 2019Thanks so much for your gracious contribution to our students! With your support, we have received accessible robots that helped reinforce and build our computational, computer science and collaborative skills. We created a project that required our students to program and revise paths through a maze and obstacle course. We also delved a bit into some metrics and attending to precision when programming various tasks.
When my students first received these tools, their eyes were lit with excitement and gratitude. They were all super "hyped" and amazed that strangers and familiar donors contributed to their continued education.
Our next steps would be to continue imagining and learning through the various robots we received. We also would hope to continue working on STEM tasks to enrich and bridge the connection between multi-curricular concepts.”

Adding Color and Accessibility to Our Technology Work!
Funded May 8, 2018Thanks for supporting our technology classes at PS 499!!! Your generous actions have deeply touched all of my students and we appreciate how invested you are in our futures. Your donations have allowed me to purchase mice (the ones for laptops), a super efficient laser printer, and toner to last for the next year.
Once we received the materials, we immediately started to see huge changes in the way we learn and produce in technology class. Our projects that we publish are much more lively, vibrant and engaging. My students often look forward to seeing their next work being printed in full color. The mice allowed students to be more precise with their various programs. Your donations have made a significant difference in their learning experiences.
Thanks again for your generous actions and please continue to spread the joy of learning!”

Funded Jan 25, 2018I am humbled by your generous donations to our school's technology program. The tablets and cases you helped purchase were immediately a huge success with my classes. Since this is the first year our school has a technology program, we are trying our best to find programs and materials that are suitable for all ages. Before this project was funded, many of my youngest learners were having difficulty learning about technology through Chromebooks.
Now my youngest learners are learning more about basic coding, letter recognition, math skills, and logic skills thanks to your generosity. I love seeing my students' eyes light up when they know it's "tablet time" or "partner time" with tablets. It's just heartwarming and inspiring to know that people like yourselves are dedicated to helping and supporting schools in need. From the bottom of our big and tiny hearts at our school, we thank you!!!”

Funded Oct 5, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation towards our technology program. This is our school's very first technology program and your generosity helped foster curiosity and growth in that area. Prior to this project, my students were not that interested or knew much about the robotics field. With your help, my students explored and tinkered with the robots and tablets your funds provided. Additionally, many students come from families in which they struggle to find funds to enrich their child's learning experiences. Because of you, we made this happen!!!
My students had a great time exploring the world of coding and robotics through your donation! Together they tackled problems and created wonderful projects. The robots were easy to use and responsive. Many students decided to name them after flowers and looked forward to "taking them for walks," during technology class. It's amazing how much ownership they take when my students become engaged in the work they do!
I think the most amazing outcome of this project was that many students were inspired by these robots and tablets. I had a good number of students from my classes requesting that their parents take them to robotic workshops in the city and purchase similar materials as holiday gifts. Even during "free time," many insist on exploring and learning more about the robots, as opposed to playing on the laptops.
Without your help, we couldn't have had that much progress and interest in technology! Thanks again for your generous actions and we hope you will continue to inspire and support our school.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Kong
