Book Bins for Independent Readers!

Printing Our Classroom Projects
Funded May 16, 2018Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. The color printer and ink have been incredibly helpful. I do not have access to a printer at school, and have been using my personal printer at home for years. Now I have a color printer in my classroom that allows me to print directly at school. I have been able to create and print posters and labels for students to use on a daily basis. They have new labels for their book bins and I have been able to label every book in our classroom library with a label that matches its library bin. I have also been able to create and print new math centers for small group time. Our new classroom printer gives me the flexibility I need to be able to prepare for my students' needs from day to day. Thank you for your generosity.”

Chromebooks for Computer Literacy

We use our Chromebooks on a daily basis to access math games, practice our research skills, read current events, publish our writing, and even to take our standardized assessments! One student job each quarter is Technology Manager. This student is responsible for caring for the laptops and making sure they are handled respectfully. The Chromebooks are a point of pride in our classroom - everyone is very excited to get their turn!

Creating Voracious Readers and Confident Writers
Funded Aug 24, 2016Thank you so much for your support of my 3rd grade readers and writers. We are using these books to explore sentence and story structure, author's purpose, and point of view. We are also becoming better writers by modeling our own sentences after our model texts. These books allow us to have a mentor text for our writing and grammar skills for each week of the school year. My students love reading and rereading these books in our classroom. It means the world to me and my students to have your support!”

Keeping Current in 2nd Grade
Funded Jul 24, 2015Scholastic Magazine has been a wonderful resource for my 2nd graders this year. This weekly magazine gives our class the opportunity to explore non-fiction writing on a regular basis. We read our magazines each week and students are able to use highlighters to find nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We also mark the text to underline the main idea of a paragraph and find the supporting evidence. This real-world model of grammar and informational writing helps my students to improve their reading comprehension as well as their own writing. Students will often choose to read and reread their Scholastic Magazine during our independent reading time. Thank you so much for providing my class with this wonderful resource.”

Creating a Community Learning Space for Third Graders
Funded Jan 28, 2015I am overwhelmed at the support and generosity of everyone who donated. This morning my students walked into our room with squeals of excitement at the sight of our new rug. We had our Morning Meeting and we were all able to fit comfortably on the rug - that's a first! Students have been excited to get their book boxes and relax on the rug for independent reading and math centers. Several students have asked me how we can repay our donors - they are very grateful to know that people they have never met have contributed to our classroom. Thank you so much for showing your care and concern for my students. We are all excited for our comfortable and relaxing classroom library.”
