  • Math Kits for Marvelous Mathematicians To Learn At Home!

    Funded Jul 27, 2020

Wow! This pandemic has completely changed everything we know in the past eight months. School has always been a place of routine, structure & hope for our students. This year, my students are transitioning to a hybrid/blended environment where we are spending two days each week learning together face to face in the classroom & two days in a remote environment. We are working hard to build our classroom community despite not always being together & recreating those structures and routines that are so important for student success. Creating math kits for our students at first had them excited about the idea of returning to school in the fall, which was full of uncertainty. Then, once we started, the students did not ever have to worry about transporting learning materials back and forth--they had double sets of everything! The students are so excited to learn & are working so hard--thanks to your generosity & impact! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Let's Get Connected (Part II!)

    Funded Oct 24, 2020

Thank you so much for your help & support. This pandemic has taught us how to pivot, be flexible & figure out unique ways to meet the needs of our students. THANK YOU for being a part of this crazy journey with us.

Having tablets in the classroom has completely changed the trajectory of the work we're doing. My students are learning in a hybrid model--2 days in school & 2 days at home. Since they are in 4th grade, they require a lot of direct instruction, not just in reading & math, but in how to use the technology that we're learning about as well! Having charged tablets in the classroom makes our lives easier as a learning community--students no longer have to worry about remembering to bring their tablet to school, forgetting their charger or being stressed about connecting to the network.

Students are able to read, show their mathematical thinking, research, explore & HAVE FUN using these tablets. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Marvelous Mini-Mathematicians Need to Make Their Thinking Visible!

    Funded Aug 9, 2019

Oh my gosh! It has been such a wonderful start to our school year & our smallest mathematicians are having the BEST time exploring math!

The ten-frame, number line & hundreds chart stamps with the GIANT colorful stamp pads are an exciting way for students to model their thinking. The ten-frame trays are an easy way for students to show ten in different ways in a hands-on way, instead of just drawing counters all the time. The students are able to make connections by what they're manipulating & representing!

The use of engaging manipulatives alongside dry erase activities, chants, songs, and counting games, our littlest mathematicians are starting to love math and make their thinking visible. We are slowly creating the next set of mathematicians & I couldn't be more thankful to have your support along for the ride!”

  • Building a Math Library for Marvelous Mathematicians--3rd, 4th, 5th Gr!

    Funded Aug 29, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping our mathematicians grow their math library! These books are being so loved by our kiddos who are so excited to see the math concepts they're learning in real life through these books. When we're learning about adding and subtracting during math centers, students are able to visualize a deeper understanding while they devour these amazing books that reinforce what we're learning! Integrating literacy and math together is a great way to reach all of our goals together! Thanks so much!”

  • Math Field Day for Our Marvelous Mathematicians!

    Funded Mar 15, 2019

Wow! What an amazing day we had celebrating the math we learned all year with our math field day & math incentives!

Each week we had a multiplication challenge & students with the highest percentage correct and demonstrated the most improvement received math certificates, math pencils & other goodies! Their self esteem was through the roof, they were motivated & more importantly they were excited to continue practicing their math facts, a crucial component of the NYS Math Assessments.

On the day before the test, instead of being stressed out, worried & nervous, we decided to celebrate all of our hard work! Students in grades K-2 visited our upper grade academies, singing them songs, decorating their doors with posters & signs, sharing some treats (Donut Stress--Just do your best!) and letting all our kiddos know we believed in them.

To wrap up the day, we all headed outside for a field day celebration with more treats "Show your work and do your BEAR-y best", games and fun! Thanks for all your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. M.

  • Let's Celebrate Being 100 Days Smarter!

    Funded Jan 29, 2018

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 100 times thank you!

We had an amazing 100th day of school celebration, with the support of your gratitude. Kids had a fantastic day sharing what they learned over the course of the first 100 days and set SMART goals for the next 100!

More importantly, they learned that hard work means they can have fun! They loved participating in interactive activities such as decorating their 100th posters with pom-poms, stickers and gems, writing 100 words they learned, places they want to visit or ways to be a bucket filler, building structures with 100 cups or 100 toothpicks and marshmallows, writing with 100th day pencils, wearing a necklace with 100 fruit loops, creating a monster with 100 eyes, all while wearing 100th day of school glasses.

Thank you for believing in the potential of our students! The impact you've had them is multiplied 100 times!”
