  • Learning with Tiggly!

    Funded Oct 25, 2017

Thank you for donating to our class project! Thanks to your help, we were able to get Tiggly manipulatives for our classroom iPads. The students LOVE them! Anytime they are asked to use iPads, the first question is, "Are we going to use Tiggly!?" Tiggly has helped reinforce phonics skills that have been worked on in class.

We received one set of Tiggly Shapes, one set of Tiggly Numbers, and two sets of Tiggly Words. Since receiving the Tiggly manipulatives, the Tiggly apps are their favorite activity on the iPads! It is exciting to watch them develop problem solving skills as they use the manipulatives.

Thank you again for your support! I greatly appreciate your support and generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lincoln

  • Hear the Difference

    Funded Oct 21, 2017

I want to begin by thanking you for your generous donation. This project is one of my favorites to get funded! When a box got delivered to our classroom, we played a guessing game of what we thought might be in the box. Many students thought new books, more iPads, games, etc. The look on their faces said it all when we opened the box together to find our own bluetooth wireless headphones! We are lucky to have 1-to-1 iPad minis in our classroom, so everyone has their own device and now, their own headphones!

Because of you and your generous donation, we are not getting tangled up in the headphone wires, struggling to plug and unplug our headphones, not damaging devices if we forget to take our headphones off while still working on an iPad, and we are much more focused on our work thanks to our headphones fitting properly! The amount of time spent getting ready to work on our iPads is minimal and there are no complaints. They turn their headphones and iPads on and they are ready to go!

Thank you again! My students and I couldn't be happier with the wireless bluetooth headphones!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lincoln

  • Just Right Books - Part 2

    Funded Nov 10, 2017

Thank you so much for all of your support to help my students get just right books!. My students were very excited to receive a box and to open the box to find brand new books for our leveled library!

When I explained to students that these books were to help us practice our reading skills during our guided reading time, they were pleased to have a variety of fiction and non-fiction books for everyone to enjoy. Even though some of the students in my class are above a level B, they enjoyed listening to their peers at level B read these books to them.

My students who are above a level B also got to read to students who were still struggling to master this level. It was great to watch the interaction of my students with each other and to hear the excitement in their voices when reading the new books.

Thank you for helping us add great additions to our leveled library!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lincoln

  • Project STEAM - Part 1

    Funded Jun 19, 2017

My students and I can not thank you enough for all of your support! My job title has changed since this project was funded. I am now teaching first grade instead of K-8. Because of your donation, I am not able to have a full class set for my students! We started having a technology/STEAM class twice a week in the last month. We started using Ozobots and the students can't get enough! We started out making our own lines and testing what kind of lines work. Do big thick lines, medium lines, or thin lines work the best? and asking ourselves why. We also are learning the difference between our left and right. The codes for turn right and turn left for Ozobots have been awesome for helping us with this! Next we will be working on working our way through a map and making certain turns to get us to our destination!

The best part of having these Ozobots is watching the faces of the students light up when they see the Ozobot traveling on a map that they made themselves! They love watching it change color depending on the color of marker that they used and guessing which way the Ozobot will go! My classroom is full of excited and engaged students!

Thank you so much for supporting my students and our goal of incorporating more STEAM in our classroom!”

    Ms. Lincoln

  • Keeping Our Projects 3D!

    Funded Aug 4, 2017

Thank you all so much for your wonderful donations!

My first graders have been eagerly waiting for their chance to use our 3Doodler pens! I have showed the students the pens and informed them that they would be able to use them soon, thanks to our wonderful donors who have provided us with the 3Doodler refills. They couldn't wait!

Today we finally had the opportunity to use our 3Doodler pens, they were SO excited that they would be able to make creations AND be able to bring them home! Our task today was to make shapes that we have been working with in math. Those shapes are triangles, hexagons, rhombuses and trapezoids.

Because of you, we are able to keep the students excited about learning, creating, and having students show their understanding in a different way! Thanks again!”

  • Making Our Creations 3D!

    Funded Apr 9, 2017

Thank you all so much for your generous donations! My first and second graders, as well as the students in our Life Skills program, have begun using the 3Doodlers to try the pens out and are quickly learning how they work. They have all been very excited to use these pens, but even more excited that they can make their drawing 3D, and even be able to bring it home to show their parents!

When first bringing the 3Doodlers into classrooms, the students were very eager to figure out what was kept inside the boxes I had brought with me. After I showed them what was in them and how the pens worked, the phrases that are often heard afterward were, "Miss Kassie, Look what I made!," "Look at this!," "I made a dog!," "Can I really make something 3D!?," "This is SO COOL!"

All of your wonderful donations have made a huge impact on the creativeness of these students and what they are able to do with their imaginations and ideas to bring them to life. Thanks again!”

  • Face Guards to Save Our Smiles

    Funded May 19, 2017

Thank you so much for donations for our face guards! I am pretty sure each girl on the team tried on a face guard when I first brought them to practice, it was a fun way to see them express their excitement for new equipment. They were also very excited to find out that the school will now have 3 face guards to keep for years to come!

These face guards have given some of my players the confidence they need to stay involved in the game and have overcome the fear of being hit in the face with the ball. They are now charging ground balls and keeping their body in front. It is amazing how one piece of equipment can change their attitude towards the game. They are even more excited to be playing! I can't wait to use them in years to come!”

  • Learning to Code with Ozobots!

    Funded Dec 22, 2016

I am overwhelmed with ideas on how to use our new Ozobots! I have been busy introducing the basics of coding with the Ozobots and how they work to students. They are very excited to learn more about how these robots can see and how they know what to do by just using markers!

By using this new type of technology, we are moving ahead in STEM/STEAM education and learning more about everyday uses for robots, how coding can help us in everyday life, and working on our problem solving skills. Students are also learning to work together to decide what will be the best way to get the Ozobot from point A to point B, thinking outside the box, and experimenting with new ideas. A question that is often asked is, "Do you think...?" and my favorite is responding with, "Why don't you try and see if it works!" The excitement they have in trying their own ideas and if it fails, trying again in another way. The joy and laughter in the classrooms has been amazing, but the engagement level has risen and students who usually aren't vocal in class are now taking charge with these new tools to help us learn more about this kind of coding. I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Thank you so much to the donors who helped, we truly couldn't have done this without you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lincoln

This is my first year as a classroom teacher, where I am teaching in first grade. I am lucky to be part of a learning community where we are able to team teach the whole first grade. Our first graders keep us laughing and learning everyday. A typical day would include silliness, curiosity, GoNoodle, brilliant ideas, and hard work. We are very appreciative of each and every donation made to our classroom to help us become the very best that we can be!
