  • Warm Hearts, Healthy Hands: Winter Essentials for Our Students

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

On behalf of our prekindergarten class, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous support of our museum project. Your contribution allowed our young learners to explore the fascinating world of art through books like Jackson Pollock Splashed Paint and Wasn't Sorry, Andy Warhol: What Colors Do You See?, and Meet Wassily Kandinsky. These stories introduced our students to renowned artists and their unique styles, sparking creativity and a deeper appreciation for artistic expression.

With the materials funded by your support, our students joyfully experimented with paint, color, and design, creating their own masterpieces inspired by these great artists. It was a truly enriching hands-on experience that encouraged imagination, self-expression, and a love of learning. Thank you for making this opportunity possible and for your continued dedication to supporting young learners in our community.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Davis

  • Art and Literacy for Littles

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support of our prekindergarten class museum project! With your help, we were able to introduce our young learners to the inspiring world of art through books such as Jackson Pollock Splashed Paint and Wasn't Sorry, Andy Warhol: What Colors Do You See?, and Meet Wassily Kandinsky, among others. These stories helped our students explore the unique styles of famous artists, sparking their creativity and curiosity about self-expression through art.

Using a variety of art materials, our little artists created their own masterpieces inspired by Pollock's energetic splatters, Warhol's bold colors, and Kandinsky's abstract shapes. It was incredible to see their excitement as they experimented with different techniques, bringing their imaginations to life. Your generosity made this hands-on learning experience possible, and we are so grateful for your support in nurturing a love of art and creativity in our classroom.”

  • Abuzz With Life Cycles

    Funded Mar 30, 2024

Thank you for supporting our prekindergarten classroom. We were so happy to receive books on famrs, planting, gardens, and insects last Spring. We immediately got to work reading about all things with life cycles! We started seeds in our pots and took them home. We also planted seeds in our courtyard. We had the opportunity to observe those seeds grow before we went home at the end of the school year. This year's students are observing the products of those plantings. We have pumpkins!

Another wonderful item we got in this grant were some new duplo lego sets. We have been able to put these new sets out to farm, plant and harvest in our play.

We are thankful for your generous donations.”

  • Hands-on Math for Hands-on Learning

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you for the hands on math manipulatives and new math read alouds that compliment our math standards. We have been back at school for 10 days and have already used our math boxes to sort by color and by item, and count objects. We are also developing fine motor skills through stacking the unfix cubes and unstacking the cubes. We have counted to five and counted backwards from five.

Our new books have become mentor math texts that the students revisit during centers and retelling the stories. In a few weeks, we will be acting out Rosie's Walk, which is a delightful tale of a chicken on a walk. We will use our chicken toys and practice using positional words. There's no better way to practice language skills and math concepts then using real objects.”

  • Starting with Basics

    Funded Apr 17, 2024

Thank you for supporting our prekindergarten classroom. The baby wipes, fresh underwear, and snacks have already been used this school year! Students have been able to freshen up by taking a baby wipe bath and putting on new underwear. What a difference it makes to feel clean.

Students are then able to seect snacks to take home in their backpacks. These much needed snacks are instrumental to some families as food prices increase it is more and more challenging to keep bellies full.

The new crayons are a huge hit as well. Everyone loves having new school supplies that are just theirs. It brings smiles to little faces to have something they own.”

A large number of the students come from homes that qualify for free or reduced lunches. Despite the large number of students identified as low-income, our students are great achievers! Our school was identified nationally as a Distinguished Title One school. Our success is due to the dedicated teaching staff, parental involvement and our caring school culture.
