Can You Hear Me Now?
Funded Feb 6, 2016Thank you for contributing to my classroom project, "Can You Hear Me Now?". The wireless microphones are been incredibly helpful in improving efficiency in our rehearsals. Students can hear and understand my feedback while they are performing and we are able to increase the amount we accomplish in our short rehearsals!
As students walk in and set-up, I'm able to take attendance, give reminders, and make announcements over the hustle and bustle that is beginner band and chorus students about to make music! While the microphones may not seem like a very influential material, they have been incredibly beneficial!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Engelhart
This classroom project was brought to life by Disney and 12 other donors.Kooky Ukee!
Funded Feb 7, 2015The ukulele's are here! The students were so excited when they saw that our new instruments came and were particularly thrilled with the various colors of the different instruments! It doesn't take much to make a child smile. They take very good care of their uke and are able to spend time developing skills rather than just experience them in passing.
The ukulele's are currently being used throughout all grades as part of regular instruction as well as performances the students are preparing for. Just last week, kindergarten sang, "Luck of the Irish" while strumming C Major! 3rd grade is preparing for their "It's A Small World" School Expo and Art show by learning "The Mickey Mouse March" which includes 4 chords! They will also have an opportunity to learn a variety of Disney songs and keep their very own "Disney Ukulele Song Book".
This project was an expansion on a previous project which many of you also sponsored (Ukulele Daily!). With the added materials acquired through this project, student have risen from the experiential level to the developmental and soon to mastery! This would not have been possible without your support and I cannot thank you enough.”

Ukulele Daily!
Funded May 26, 2014Thank you all so much for your generous donations, the students are having such a good time playing their ukuleles! Students are excited to be learning chords to accompany their songs.
Students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade have already begun using the instruments to play single chord drones to accompany songs. 1st grade will be playing C Major to accompany "Pumpkin Patch" for the board of education this week, 2nd grade had a video posted to the district facebook page of them playing D Major to "Tropical Storm" and 3rd grade will be playing "Spooky Ukee" as part of their Spooky Spectacular Halloween Show in 2 weeks!
Students are more engaged than ever and are really striving to play the instruments correctly. They take pride in their technique and performing multiple tasks at a time!”

Kensington Music Project
Funded Feb 5, 2013Words cannot express how grateful I am for your donation to my classroom. The students use the hand bells, boom wackers, and guiros every day throughout the school. Our Hand Bell Choir has been practicing very hard and will be performing in their first concert in just a week's time.
The School District of Philadelphia is currently facing its most dire challenge in its history with a budget deficit of $216.7 million dollars. Programs such as music and art that rely heavily on materials will not receive any support through the school district. Your donation allows these students to express themselves musically, and experience they would otherwise never have.
My students and I will be eternally grateful for your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Engelhart
