Spring (Chrome) Things
Funded Mar 10, 2016Thank you for your support of our DonorsChoose project to provide more ChromeBooks for our classroom. These resources are invaluable to us.
Many of you may use technology at home, but maybe you don't know all of the ways our students use technology at school. As you can see in pictures posted on my DonorsChoose page, the students use the ChromeBooks to take quick assessments, to research, and to collaborate on writing projects through a shared Google site. Right now in my classroom, several students are writing a book together on a website called Scribblitt - they plan to publish and donate a copy of their book to our classroom! Students also share information with each other through whole- or small-group presentations using PowerPoint, Weebly, and other tools.
Thank you again for your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley

Funded Dec 4, 2015We love having twelve Chromebooks in our classroom. Every one of our 30 students has real access to a Chromebook whenever he or she needs to do quick research or prepare a document or quiz on a book. Our writing period involves students drafting, researching, editing, and putting into final form their writing pieces. Students can collaborate by working together on one computer for research or by editing shared documents on several computers.
Thank you for your generosity and support. You have changed for the better the way we work every day in the classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley
(Koda)ChromeBooks - Part 2!
Funded Aug 24, 2015How wonderful it is for my students to be able to use Chromebooks as daily tools - not as precious and rare privileges! When we have enough laptops in our classroom, the students can pick up a computer, quickly research, find a source, write a note, and then move back to their essay or other work. We love the flexibility and usefulness these laptops have brought to our classroom!
Your thoughtful contributions to this project have helped make our classroom an even better place to spend our day! Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley
Students on a Quest
Funded Aug 27, 2015Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom happiness! Having more Chromebooks means that my students all can stay together in our classroom, rather than reserving a computer lab to work. The students in my classroom use technology every day for research. They also use the laptops to write essays or poems and to take reading quizzes. Sometimes they use them for practice in mathematics.
The students love being able to use a computer efficiently and flexibly, without sharing with so many others or waiting in line to research a quick question. Our classroom is better each and every day due to you. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley
Bright, Shiny World with Chrome(Books)
Funded Aug 13, 2015Thank you for helping our classroom become even more cooperative and balanced! We now have a reasonable number of computers in our classroom (about 1 computer for every 2-3 students). This is a huge change for us because the students can just grab a laptop when they need to compose a presentation or essay, take notes, take a quiz, or do research - there is no need to sign up in advance for 40 minutes in a computer lab. It is so exciting to have so much flexibility! With your gift, you have enhanced our school day EVERY day. Thank you.”

Chromatic Infusion
Funded Aug 13, 2015Thank you for donating to our classroom. Your generous gift has allowed us to purchase Chromebooks to improve the child/computer ratio in our classroom.
In fourth grade, students use computers to draft essays, to research, to take quizzes, and to create presentations. Our school has an inquiry-based curriculum, so we are constantly looking into questions we have about the world. With convenient access to the Internet in our classroom, thanks to these Chromebooks, my students work more efficiently and flexibly to complete their work.
Thank you again for your help with this project.”

Doing Things Right!
Funded Aug 3, 2015Oh my gosh! This organizer has become such a critical part of our classroom that I don't know how we lived without it.
The organizer is a beautiful, sturdy piece of furniture and it contains 36 cubbies - enough for our class of 30. Each of my students has a personal space in which he or she can store going-home work, pencils, books, a planner, and everything else ready to go home at the end of the day. For me, the organizer means that I can distribute homework, PTA and school information, and student work without disturbing student learning during the day. I love it.
Thank you again for your generosity. You have made our days run so much more smoothly.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley
(Koda)Chromebooks
Funded Aug 4, 2015Thank you for your kind contribution to our classroom. The new Chromebooks have transformed the way we can do research and writing during the school day.
My students love this technology! They are able to work independently and flexibly without standing in line to use the few computers we had! Ours is an inquiry-based curriculum, and we use the Chromebooks to research every single day. The students also are able to quiz on books so that they can achieve their reading goals.
Thank you again for your generosity!”

This classroom project was brought to life by an anonymous donor and 2 other donors.Don't Stop Believing!
Funded Aug 23, 2014Thank you for your contributions to my project, Don't Stop Believing! My students came back to school this year to organized books and a wonderful easel and chart paper. Right from the beginning, I was able to establish the classroom routine of meeting at the easel to begin our day with a short meeting and a reading lesson. My students have established a community around this time of the day. In fact, whenever we have difficult conversations about community or about any challenge to our classroom, we meet at the easel. It is a place where we feel most connected.
In addition to the contribution your donation has made to our classroom on the social level, it also has made an impact on my teaching effectiveness. Chart paper is what I use to make anchor charts, which are references for the lessons we have every day, made available for the students at all times. One day, one of my students counted 20 anchor charts around the room, presenting everything from the steps of multiplication to the breakdown of story plot to a poster of our classroom's Essential Agreements. The paper is more expensive than most people might imagine and it is a luxury AND a necessity in our classroom.
My students have used these materials every single day and they have become a critical part of my teaching and of the students' classroom experience. Thank you.”

Funded Nov 30, 2013My students were so excited to receive this complete set of biographies, science books, and social studies books. The books are new and shiny and inviting, and they are organized so that students can select books in a variety of reading levels that work for them.
I loved to see how quickly my fourth graders were drawn to these sophisticated and engaging texts. All at once, nonfiction became the fashion for my readers! Research tells us that students who read a variety of texts, in a variety of genres, benefit academically from their resultant enriched vocabulary and increased background knowledge. I can tell you for SURE that my students on a daily basis are poring through books about Albert Einstein, sharks, and the solar system, as well as many other subjects, thanks to your donations. They are learning so much.
Thank you very much for your contribution to our classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gormley
