Learning to Write Right!
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity. I am so grateful for your donations to my project and your dedication to my students' education. The letters you helped me purchase will allow the children to begin to develop their literacy skills and learn proper letter formation in a developmentally appropriate way.”

Funded Apr 19, 2024I am so grateful for your generous donations. My students will be so excited to paint outside! There is so much to see outside our classroom walls. Having an art station outside will stimulate their imaginations in ways that an indoor art station would not. Having an art station outside will also make my classroom less crowded. Thank you again for your generous donations.”

Funded Sep 12, 2022I am excited to announce that thanks to your generous donations, my project is fully funded! My first graders were so excited when they saw the balance balls, wiggle cushions, and bouncy bands, and they love using them!
The flexible seating choices the wiggle cushions provide make it easier for the students to concentrate on their work. The bouncy bands are especially useful for the children in my class whose legs are too short to reach the floor. The children love sitting on the bouncy balls in the classroom library and reading books.
Thank you again for your donations. Your generosity means so much to my students and me.
Gratefully,
Ms. Ingram”

Funded Jul 9, 2022Thank you so much for contributing to my project! Because of your donations, I am able to provide my fabulous first graders with a fun way to learn to read and spell. The children were so excited when showed them their new letter tiles, and there is a sparkle in their eyes when they get to use them.
Currently, I am using the letter tiles in small groups. I give the children three-letter words to spell. As the children say each sound of the word, they find the letter that corresponds to that sound. After they have formed the whole word, the children take turns reading it. Matching sounds to letters is an important step towards becoming a proficient reader. When the children use these letter tiles, they are engaging their sense of touch and their sense of sight, which, according to brain research, helps them learn better.
My first graders also like to play with the letter tiles during their free time. I sometimes see them spelling their names and giving each other words to spell. Thank you so much for helping me give my children a fun, engaging way to learn to read and write.”

Mrs. Ingram
My Fabulous Fifth Graders Love Doing Math!
Funded Jan 31, 2012Wow! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project. Because of your donations, my students will be able to explore math concepts in depth, and therefore have a better understanding than if they just did problems in a textbook.
About Teaching Mathematics presents hands-on math activities that give students a deeper understanding about the math standards they are learning. Spaghetti and Meatballs for All, The Greedy Triangle, and the math literature collection are fictional stories that provide a real world context for the concepts that are learning, which makes math easier for all students to understand, including my gifted and high-achieving students and my students who struggle with math. About Teaching Mathematics and Math for Smarty Pants are resource books that I will be able to use to assist my students in deepening their understanding of the mathematical concepts they need to learn in order to be successful.
The tangrams, the fraction decimal and percent circles, and the positive and negative number slider boards will give my students the opportunity to do hands on activities and construct their own knowledge about math concepts they need to know in order to be successful in fifth grade and beyond.
Thank you again to all of the donors who contributed, my students' parents and their families, my family and friends, the anonymous donors, Donors Choose and the Wasserman Foundation. Your contributions mean so much to my students and me. Thank you for your commitment to education and to my students and me.”

Funded Dec 28, 2011My students and I would like to express our sincere appreciation for your donations, which made the purchase of a digital camera possible. We have used it to take pictures ourselves having fun doing classroom and outdoor activities, and science investigations. We are documenting our fifth grade year!
Our school has an emphasis on technology, so we'll be creating slide shows and picture walls to share with our families at Open House and culmination. What a great way to celebrate our learning and our last year in elementary school.
It is very moving to receive donations from an anonymous donor, and the Wasserman Foundation, and Donors Choose, people I do not know. Education is so important to me, which is why I became a teacher. Thank you for your commitment to education. The students and I are so grateful.”
