Our students will greatly benefit from having Chromebooks in our classroom to support technology skills. We hope to develop these skills in center time throughout the year. Our goal this year is focusing on small group learning and engaging in the ELA and math. With these laptops, we hope to support our various learners in class to use the program iReady (a school-wide program used to assess students at their ELA and math levels and provides students with lessons that are appropriate to their level from that data), listening to read aloud, working on keyboard skills, phonics programs, BrainPop Jr, math programs, and being an ethical user of technology (GLO#6). We are starting our inclusion journey and can benefit from having another resource to use to support our diverse learners. Many of our students are not exposed to using a laptop and require these skills to be used in the future grades and in the real world. Having these laptops would provide our students with keyboarding skills, learning how to scroll, click, select, and various functions on a computer. We are excited to build and practice their fine motor skills. Another benefit from having these laptops is that it supports students letter and number recognition. Majority of our students come in with little to no letter or number recognition. This will provide another opportunity for them to practice their skills. We are also looking forward to them using this to type up their own sentences for projects that we will be doing this year.
