The learning tools that I am requesting for my students are crucial to their development. The number tubes and linking monkeys will encourage students to grow their brains with a hands-on experience, not just paper and pencil. The castle blocks and play people will encourage science, engineering, teamwork, and collaboration. We have a small kitchen in our room but no food to go with it, yet! This type of real life play will teach communication and life-long skills, and literacy and math activities will be incorporated. Brain breaks and sensory breaks keep kids going through out the day. Little learners need frequent breaks so they can clear their brains between different learning goals. Some kids also get overwhelmed and need a chance to de-escalate when they are overstimulated. The light table and sensory balls would be a great escape and they won't even know they are still learning.
