Financial Literacy Mini Community
Funded Jun 2, 2015Our class was very excited to hear the news of our funded project. With the new iPad, students are practicing skip counting concept and tracking how much money they have saved in the bank. Everybody is excited to earn more "money" by completing their assignments and follow directions. We are working toward having a Mini Community where students will operate their own stores, buying and selling services and goods to each other. Our end of the year activity will teach financial literacy in hands-on, practical experience that will prove to be the best experience.”

Funded Aug 26, 2015Back to School art supplies made it possible for our students to make our room as an inviting place to walk into. Students took ownership of their space by creating projects that made them feel special and proud of being kindergarten students.
Our class incorporated the artwork with what we were studying. We read the story of apple farmer Annie and studied about the food that comes from apples. With that, we created the apple trees in the orchard by using paint and crayons. Furthermore, our handmade calendars were a hit! Every student took home a beautiful keepsake of their twelve pages of artwork to share with their family for the New Year. Our three dimensional turkey art projected decorated the hallway windows for all the students and parents to enjoy.
Your donations have made a special impact on how our students perceive becoming an artist. Thank you for making it a great year to start kindergarten!”

Kindergarten Stays Fit
Funded Feb 5, 2015Attending the SPARK physical education program was the best training I had. This program is absolutely wonderful for my students. P.E. has become an exciting part of our daily curriculum. Students are training to work together in team-building games and learning to follow directions. Even parents are amazed at how much our children are enjoying the program. Few that didn't want to participate are now the first to line up to play.
This P.E. program has different activities that build skills previously taught lessons. Daily lesson card provide equipment list and how to teach the lesson. For second language learners, picture cards describe the expected movements.
After implementing the program, my class is more focused and asks for extra physical fitness time. I had positive responses from parents about the enthusiasm among the students. It definitely helps my P.E curriculum to be more skill based. I am more effective and my students are more eager to stay fit. Thank you for making it possible.”

Funded Sep 15, 2014What a wonderful gift for our new incoming kindergarten students! When our class found out our class project was funded, we were jumping up and down with excitement.
Since then, our class is using the laptop for math and language arts instructions. In math, we have been able to use the number line chart to add and subtract. Students can manipulate the frogs to hop up or down the number line to find the answer. This skill is reinforced by playing addition games on the computer. Our class loves playing card game of "War" practicing the skill of more than or less than. We are also building three dimensional objects to see how many sides and corners there are in a shape.
It has been an amazing experience to have few more resources to teach the abstract concepts to our students. They enjoy math more than ever. Thanks to friends like you who care, we are blessed. Have a Happy New Year!”

Funded Mar 5, 2013Thank you parents and friends for the wonderful learning tools for our classroom. Having an iPad for an extra practice in math and reading has made a huge difference in the way we learn. Students are learning their sight words with an enthusiasm. It is a great incentive for rewarding students with extra time on the educational games. In reading and in math, am able to monitor student's progress as I monitor the scores at the end of the day.
