Stixplosion in STEM
Funded Aug 26, 2018My class was eager to receive the STEM package when we found out it was fully funded. Thanks to your generous donation, our class have had the chance to explore both Engineering A- Coaster and Magnet Station. This hands on experiment really brought fun in learning.
We loved the thrilling roller coasters that we designed to figure out the best way for the disk to land into the final home. Through trial and error, students learn how the track position affects the disk—as it rolls and falls from track to track and into the goal box! Since, the magnetic tracks stick to our whiteboard, it was conveniently relocated. Students worked as a team to solve the coaster.
The Magnet Station was also a hit. Students used magnets to push cars up a ramp, move a magnetic mouse through a maze and used fishing pole to pick up magnet fish. Our iPad helped us learn about magnetic fields!
Thank you for your interest in STEM education for the young minds.”

Funded Aug 31, 2018Our classroom is Spic and Span clean, thanks to your donation. We clean our carpet daily so that we have less allergy problems. The classroom environment is an important part of learning and the vacuum cleaner and the wet mop has really made a positive impact when we walk into the class in the morning. Swiffer Wet mop is used after breakfast mess of spilled juice and sticky syrup. Students are taking ownership of our floor since they have the awesome tools to help keep our room clean. Thank you for making it possible for our students to feel good about taking an ownership of our classroom.”

Funded Sep 21, 2018Thank you for the Back to School supplies that we have received to start the new school year. We have used the arts and crafts materials to decorate our mobiles for all about me projects. Students used cardboard cutouts to work on the Halloween projects. We used collage boards to create jack o' lanterns.
We especially love using the punch-out shapes to learn our counting skills in math. Punching out the shapes was fun to use in learning patterns in math too. It was quick and easy – since we didn't have to cut out each shapes.
"Pawsitive behaviors" have been implemented using many incentives such as stickers and awards for scholarly behaviors. My kindergarten students have been learning to be respectful to others in class. We have been working on being a good friend and being awarded makes it even better.
Treasure toys are always popular awards for turning in homework on time. Students were happy to get emoji key chains for their effort in completing 10 homework assignments.
Our favorite supply that we received is Ms. Potato Head from Toy Story. Ms. Potato Head gets parts added on to her face when the classwork as a team for cleaning up after centers. Our goal is to work toward a pizza party once she is completed.
Thanks to your donations, we have started our new school year with wonderful art supplies. Creativity and imagination went hand in hand. Our art projects were displayed in and around our hallways. Positive behaviors awarded with fun toys and treasures really made a huge impact. Donors like you make learning fun. We really appreciate all your support and love for our kindergarten students.”

Funded Aug 23, 2017Thank you for your generous donation. Dyson vacuum cleaner has made our classroom rug clean and beautiful to look at. We use the vacuum daily to keep the rug free of dirt and bacteria. The students are aware of all the dust and dirt that gets accumulated in the filter and they are thankful for the powerful cleaner that keeps our room looking good.
When we didn't have our own vacuum, we had to rely on once a week cleaning job. Of course, it didn't last very long. Our rug and floor looked messy and ugly within a day. Now that we have our own handy dandy Dyson, we can keep our room fresh and clean. We really appreciate your support.”

Back to School 2016
Funded Sep 2, 2016My students love their treasure toys. They earn their toys by following directions in class, completing their homework neatly, being a good friend in school, and learning daily. I have students that work toward their own behavior goals each day and when they complete it, they get to choose their toys with a certificate.
When the new shipment of toys started to arrive, most of the students really wanted to be the first to win the treasure toy. We had specific guidelines such as being respectful to others, getting a chance to pick when they get ten happy face days and so forth.
My students are very thankful for your generous gifts and they promise to work hard everyday to learn to be ready for first grade! I will continue to reward my class with fun toys and incentives to achieve scholarly behaviors and safe environment.”

Funded Aug 22, 2016The art supplies from Quill is continually bring imagination and creativity in our classroom. We have made Halloween Hungry Monsters come to life by adding wiggly eyes and glitters. We have also used pompom balls and feathers to make the Thanksgiving turkeys disguise themselves so they don't get cooked for dinner.
When my class saw all the art supplies, we immediately opened it up to make a Shape Man since our math unit was on triangles, rectangles, squares and circles. I had to promise that we would be able to use it on the future projects to put the boxes away.
For our next project, we want to make a winter scene using oil pastels. It will be used for lights on the tree, snowman with funny nose, and holiday cards for families. Thanks you for supporting our class with fabulous art supplies to last another year.”

Funded Aug 12, 2016My students love to exercise with the equipment that are from Target grant. We are learning to throw with precision and with strength. We started with light and soft fluff balls. It was a first stage in throw and catch without the fear of getting hit by a ball. Next, we moved into the beanbags. We learn to move in non-locomotive and locomotive movements with music and with partners. We are now practicing with scoop-ball equipment where students are learning to catch the ball with a plastic scoop rather than using their hands. It's a skill that we will continue to practice throughout the year.
When the boxes of multi-color hoop, jump-ropes, balls and beanbags started to come in, the class cheered wanting to see the P.E. equipment right away. We were able to load everything into the cart to wheel it to the auditorium for our SPARK Time.
We will continue to use the team building lessons from the SPARK to promote healthy living. Our students will continue to practice the basic skill of eye hand coordination that will help with all other team sports in the future.”

Funded Sep 12, 2015Mr. Dyson, the vacuum cleaner, is by far the best picker upper in the room. Our classroom mom vacuums the carpet every morning before the students walk in. Sure enough, all the dirt and trash gets picked up completely by Mr. Dyson. Our class won the award for 93% attendance in the month of November. Knowing that our class is a cleaner place to learn and play makes me feel better. Not only will my class look spic and span, but it will also be germ-free. Thank you for making it possible for Mr. Dyson to be part of our helper.”
