Reading Rules!
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you so very much for your kindness and support of our classroom. I can't thank you enough for funding this project.
When the boxes arrived my kids were so excited to open them and see what was inside. Once the opened each box they took turns selecting a book they wanted to read. They were so engaged with their new books.
My kids have enjoyed reading these books throughout the year. They books have been an amazing addition to our classroom library. They are so popular we have had to create signout sheets so everyone could have a turn with the book they were interested in.
Thank you again for your generosity and support.”

Funded Feb 12, 2021Thank you so much for funding this project. I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity. Motivating my kids while they were virtual was a challenge. I wanted to come up with a way to acknowledge their hard work and effort. Through this project I was able to purchase postcards and stamps to mail home to my students to encourage and support them. They were excited to receive the notes and cards for meeting their goals. I loved doing this such I want to continue to motivate my students in this way even during a "normal" school year. Thank you for supporting our classroom during this crazy year!”

Make It Personal
Funded Jan 1, 2021Thank you so much for funding this project through your amazingly wonderful donations. As we brought kids back into the classroom during a pandemic, it was important that each student had individual supplies. Sharing supplies as we had in the past was not an option this year. Not only that but they needed to be able to take the materials back and forth each day to have at home. Through your generosity, you helped our classroom get the materials each student needed. My kids loved having the colorful bins on their desks to keep their pencils etc. It was eas for them to move everything from their desk to their backpacks each day. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping .y student get the individual materials they needed. I am very grateful.”

Stop the Spread
Funded Apr 1, 2021Thank you so much for your wonderful donations and funding this project. My students had been virtual all year until we went back in March. Keeping my students safe and healthy was one of my biggest concerns. Because they needed to eat lunch in the classroom without masks I needed a way to keep germs at bay in a small space. These shields were so helpful to have on the students desks because it allowed them to face each other without masks helping to reduce the risk of spreading germs. They also helped during indoor recess as they could play games like battleship while gaving each other and during partner work. Thank you do much for funding this much needed project. It definitely gave us piece of mind as we navigated through challenging times”

We Positively Love Positive Books
Funded Mar 16, 2021This school year was a challenge in so many ways. We bag the year virtually and finished with teaching kids in person and virtually at the same time. One of the biggest challenges was meeting the social and emotional needs of students. At our school we participate in the positivity project which has really helped my students with character traits like bravery, kindness, love, perseverance and more. Your donations to this project helped to add read aloud books that supported these character traits. It gave me a very visual ways to help support social and emotional learning through read aloud. I am so grateful for your kindness and generosity towards our classroom through your incredible donations. Thank you so very much for helping our classroom.”

Funded Oct 23, 2020Virtual learning has been tough on our classroom. There are many challenges that my students have had to overcome. Keeping them engaged has been a challenge for sure.
With this project I wanted to get read aloud that my kids would love to listen to and keep them engagedbduring shared reading. These books have really helped to not only entertain my kids but they have helped us build conversations around our reading. That can be tough in a virtual setting. One of our favorite things to do is to use Peardeck to ask and answer questions about what we are reading.
These books have been a hit in our classroom. I am so appreciative for your help in bringing this project to life. Thank you so very much.”

Funded Oct 22, 2020One of the goals I have had for my classroom was to provide my kids with a diverse collection of books so that them may learn about other cultures. Diverse books also provide my students with the opportunity to see characters in the story that have been left out in the past.
One group that is often overlooked when thinking about stories with diverse characters is Native Americans. In 4th grade we spend time learning about the different Native American tribes of Virginia. Looking at my book collection I realized that there were almost no books with Native American characters. I sought to change that with this project.
Even though we are virtual, my class has enjoyed listening to stories about Native Americans. They were very engaged with the stories that we shared together and it was a great opportunity for them to see Native Americans represented in our stories.
Thank you so much for helping to bring this project to life. I cannot wait for the kids to come back to the classroom and enjoy reading these books independently.”

Funded Oct 22, 2020We have loved using Flocabulary in our classroom! My kids love the catchy songs and we use it to reinforce the concepts we are learning.
Flocabulary puts the concepts we are using to music. My kids enjoys the engaging videos and also love to take a dance break using them.
My students learn best when strong visuals are used. Flocabulary is very visual. This is especially helpful with my English language learners.
Another great feature of Flocabulary is that it allows me to slow down the videos if they are too fast for my kids to understand.
Thank you so much for helping to fund this project and give us a wonderful tool to use during distance learning.”

Funded Oct 28, 2020In our school we participate in something called the Positivity Project. Each week we focus on a different character trait. These traits include things like optimism, kindness, teamwork, perseverance, and many more. In the project I requested books to help support the positivity project character traits as well as books that focus on topics not covered by the positivity project. My kids just love these books. We read them as part shared reading. One of the ones that I found super helpful was "A Little Spot Learns at Home." This tackles the issue of virtual learning and sets expectations for virtual learning.
All of these books support a positive classroom environment and are also something my kids love hearing.
Thank you so much for bringing this project to life. We have loved having these books for virtual learning. I am grateful for your generosity and kindness.”
