  • Having a Ball

    Funded Mar 2, 2013

I can't begin to tell you how much your donation means to my students and to me as a teacher. As you can imagine, schools are under an enormous amount of stress right now and much of that stress is due to budget cutbacks. I can't stand seeing my students go without the supplies they need to be successful, happy and healthy. It means so much to them and their families that they have the chance for self expression and creativity through visual art. For that reason, I find myself digging into my own pocket more and more to see that they don't go without. Your support allows me to keep my focus where it should be; on my amazing students and their journey as learners. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Do You Dream in Watercolor?

    Funded Jun 10, 2011

We cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of liquid watercolor paints to our classroom. These paints are very versatile and we've already used them in many projects from symmetrical butterflies to Georgia O'Keeffe inspired flowers to the fall Veterans Day Art Contest. They look amazing with a little salt sprinkled into the paint while it is still wet. We've had so many compliments on our art! The children are so proud and so am I. Your donation has touched pretty much every child in the school, as these paints go a long way! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

  • Please Give Us The Brush Off!

    Funded Feb 10, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. The brushes you donated came just in time to help us finish our awesome "Be Green" mural on Earth Day.

I can't tell you how much we appreciate your generosity. This is the third year that I've taught art without a supply budget from my school. Supplies provided by the district don't always come as promised and when they do come they are often missing items or late. Donations are a more dependable source and they have become one that we count on. From a teacher's point of view, Donors Choose is one of the best ways people can donate to education. Teachers know what their students need and the supplies go straight to the need. I commend you for choosing to donate to an art program, as they are usually among the last to receive school, district, state and federal funds. It is truly heartwarming to know that there are people like you who care about children. You are helping to build our nation's future. Thank you for donating to my classroom. ”

  • Hooray for Markers!

    Funded Dec 6, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. The children are already creating their little masterpieces with the supplies you have so generously donated. I can't tell you how much it means to use markers. Their faces light up at the mere mention of it and the room falls into a creative silence as soon as they get their hands on the Sharpies.

Here at our school we use art to build up their lives in many ways. Of course art allows for creative expression, but it also appeals to visual and kinesthetic learners. We often do art projects to help reinforce a concept from science, math, reading, writing or social studies.

It never fails to amaze me that many times a child who is struggling in other subjects finds success in the Art Room. I am always excited to see this happen and I make sure that I point out to the child that artistic talent can translate into a career in Architecture, Graphic Design, Web Design, Advertising, Film Making, Photography and of course, as an artist! This can help a struggling student stay positive about school and find his niche in the world and in life. The supplies you've donated help ensure that this positive outlet is available.
