  • Art for All

    Funded Jan 1, 2024

Art plays a vital role in the classroom, serving as a powerful tool for enhancing creativity, critical thinking, and emotional expression. By incorporating art into the curriculum, educators provide students with opportunities to explore their imaginations and express themselves in unique ways. This creative outlet not only fosters individual expression but also encourages students to think outside the box, cultivating innovative problem-solving skills that are essential in today's world.

Moreover, engaging in artistic activities can enhance cognitive development. Studies have shown that art education can improve students' ability to analyze and interpret information, as it requires observation, interpretation, and critical thinking. Art encourages students to look at the world from different perspectives and to consider multiple solutions to a problem. This kind of creative thinking is beneficial not only in art but also in academic subjects like science, mathematics, and literature, where innovative approaches can lead to breakthroughs and deeper understanding.

Additionally, art serves as a vital means of emotional and social development. Through artistic expression, students can explore their feelings and experiences, providing an outlet for emotions that might be difficult to articulate in words. Collaborative art projects foster teamwork and communication, helping students build relationships and learn to appreciate diverse perspectives. In this way, art not only enriches the educational experience but also supports students' overall well-being, creating a more inclusive and empathetic classroom environment. By valuing and integrating art into education, we prepare students to navigate a complex world with creativity and compassion.”

  • Reading Nook Lighting

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Reading light in classrooms plays a significant role in enhancing the learning experience for students. Proper lighting is crucial for creating an environment conducive to focus and concentration. Adequate reading light helps reduce eye strain and fatigue, allowing students to read comfortably and engage with their materials for longer periods. This improved visibility not only makes reading more enjoyable but also promotes better comprehension, as students can more easily follow along with texts and assignments.

Additionally, reading light contributes to the overall ambiance of the classroom. A well-lit space can feel more inviting and stimulating, encouraging students to explore books and participate in reading activities. When classrooms are equipped with adjustable or task lighting, teachers can create different settings for various learning activities, from independent reading to group discussions. This flexibility helps cater to diverse learning styles and preferences, making reading an integral part of the classroom experience.

Furthermore, incorporating reading light can foster a love for literature among students. A well-lit reading corner or designated space with comfortable seating and inviting lighting can encourage students to dive into books and explore new ideas. When students have a dedicated area that is visually appealing and well-lit, they are more likely to engage in reading for pleasure, developing a lifelong passion for literature. In this way, reading light not only enhances academic performance but also nurtures a culture of reading that can benefit students beyond the classroom.”

  • Love Our Library

    Funded Aug 10, 2023

Thank you for all the support and donations you extended to our classroom project. Reading and literature are the center of third grade and we are so excited to engage with our library every day!

When students see themselves in stories, their identities and cultures are affirmed. Making connections with characters and lessons sparks meaningful conversations among peers. You allowed this to happen in our classroom!

I had one student say, "Books help us understand who we are and what we can become!"”

  • I See Myself In Literature

    Funded Mar 28, 2023

These beautiful read-alouds filled our classroom with joy and identity affirmations. It's truly powerful to see students engage with texts that represent their families and cultures.

When we unboxed our books, we quickly looked at the covers and chose which ones we wanted to read first. The class discussions we were able to have allowed students to share their stories and imagination.

Reading and literature are the center of 3rd grade. Thank you for all the support and donations you extended to us.”

  • Math Intervention

    Funded Feb 17, 2023

Thank you for the math intervention items. At our site, we offer afterschool math intervention for students who need extra practice in multiplication and division strategies.

This project brought joy back to math! We got to put aside the humdrum worksheets and textbooks and simply explored with manipulatives. We engaged in beautiful classroom discussions about the concepts of multiplication and division in very low-pressure, low-stress environments.

Thank you for all the donations and support!”

We are getting more use out of our Chromebooks! In order to get the best use, each student will need a pair of their own! Having headphones allows us to listen to the text to sound speech, listen to prompted questions and assistant, and allow us to engage more meaningfully with various math, reading, and writing programs. Ensuring each student has a pair of headphones can allow them to stay focused and independently when working. I am especially excited for these programs to help with my English Learners. Chromebook programs allow us to differentiate instruction for each students' own academic growth!
