My students are mostly four years old and entering school for the first time. Roughly half are of Hispanic origin and are learning English as they learn Spanish. The other half of my students are African American and are likewise learning to speak, read and comprehend written and spoken words. They are all eager to learn and have fun. These students are learning the role school can play in their lives and how important, and fun, learning is.
