My students were SO EXCITED to choose what color chair bag would go on their seats first thing this morning!! The colors are fun and inviting and they arrived in perfect time. Today we will begin to work in our math workbooks and then students will have the perfect spot to store them when the lesson is over. With many new curriculum programs this year, we have more workbooks than ever. These bags will store materials for literacy, math and social sciences! Now we have the perfect spot to store it all, with easy access. Thank you so much!!”

  • Building Community Through Books

    Funded Aug 22, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to this fabulous set of books! Already this year, we have learned about the importance of making and learning from mistakes as well as about being kind to ourselves and others. In the weeks to come, we will be reading about our feelings and how to navigate them, and also gaining an understanding of resilience.

Students in our class enjoy hearing these books during our read aloud time, discussing them, and then they LOVE to read them on their own during independent reading time. Many of these books have become the most loved in our classroom!!”

  • Making it Work!!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for funding this project. The items in it have been so helpful to my class in their learning.

The cup holders are keeping water bottles at the ready, but leaving more space on desks.

The fabulous headset and speaker make it far easier for my class to hear me. I am also able to repeat the words of my students for everyone to also hear them better.

The rainbow ribbon keeps all students in safety zones, and they love the colors.

They are able to make connections to themselves with the wonderful books that have characters who look like our diverse class. The books also teach valuable lessons in self value.

The webcam makes our remote days better by giving me an easy way to share visual lessons while they can also see me.

    I am ever so grateful.”

  • Reading Is the Best!

    Funded Aug 18, 2020

I am so grateful! Thank you for the wonderful book sets. I will be able to use them with my students, then send them home.

It is so good to know that my students will have books to read safely in class. It is an amazing bonus to also be able to send them home to keep and enjoy. There is no better way for them to learn to read than to have good books in their homes for practicing the learned skills from class.

They will also be so excited to see the many themes and genres, and there is something really special about having the same book as a peer.”

Wow! This is the most fabulous set of books! Our school is a very beautiful diverse place. These books connect with our students. They are able to see themselves in the books. They also have the opportunity to learn more about each other and our many cultures.

As a teacher, I am able to share these books with my students during our reading and writing workshops. They are wonderful stories that I can teach reading and writing strategies using fabulous literature!

We are all so grateful for this wonderful gift!!”

Our school is in the inner city. We have many low income and English Language learners. Due to budget constraints, our classroom finances are incredibly tight. My classroom community is built around kindness. We pledge to be kind every morning and celebrate these acts with our "Tree of Kindness." Students are asked to write their name on a leaf, snowflake, or flower depending on the season. Our classroom is literacy rich. We strive to be better readers and writers every day. We read independently, with partners and as a class. We love to enjoy great books and study the author's work to improve our own writing. I am grateful to DonorsChoose. Through your help, I have been able to enrich the lives of many students and continue to do so. Thanks to all of you for your support.
