Creating & Learning in Kindergarten
Funded Nov 27, 2019I am so excited to share with you that our project has completely funded. After returning from maternity leave, I realized that many of our supplies needed to be restocked. So I am excited that we will be restocking our construction paper so that I can continue to plan creative and engaging learning activities for my students. I can't wait to share pictures of my sweet students with you soon. Thank you again for choosing to support my classroom. You're awesome, you're the best, you ROCK!”

Funded Nov 18, 2018Thank you so much for your help to put magnetic letters in the homes of all of my students! My students and their families were so excited that they were able to have their very own set of magnetic letters. They felt so special and were so thankful that their child was able to practice their learning at home.
Once all of the magnetic letters were delivered to our classroom, I made each child their own storage bag of magnetic letters. They were able to keep this in their take home folder which kept everything organized and in a safe location. My students were able to practice building and reading their sight words every night. I received pictures from parents of their children practicing at home and during our morning meeting time they would share how they used their letters at home. Soon, I heard great conversation of students working to build sentences and even were making up their own games to see who could build a word the fastest. My students' families were so thankful to be give a resource and activities so they could help their child at home. This made such a difference in our classroom learning environment!
I have to admit that this is one of my most favorite projects that I have had funded that also had such a positive impact on my students' learning while helping to connect the learning from school to home. Thank you SO much for your help to fund these sets of magnetic letters for each of my students. You're awesome, you're the best and YOU ROCK!”

Games for a Rainy Day
Funded Mar 8, 2019My students were so excited when the box of games were finally delivered! They had been waiting and asking every day when their new games would arrive. So needless to say, once the box arrived, we had to quickly take a peek and play a couple of games to test them out!
Rainy days became so much more fun once we had these games. I was surprised how many students had never played or seen board games so we had a lot of fun playing and learning together. My students finally had something else that they could do inside and enjoy some free play time with their friends. I even had a few parents asking me at the end of the year to share the board games that their child had been playing so they could buy a set for their house!
We may not be able to go outside on rainy days but that didn't stop us from taking a break and having some fun inside. Thank you for supporting my students and helping to provide these awesome board games. You rock!”

Funded Jan 1, 2019It was a GREAT day when our supplies were delivered! I was able to give each child a new set of crayons to replace their well loved crayons. Our art center was replenished with construction paper and new crayons were placed in the awesome rainbow supply caddy!
With your support we were able to finish the year out with new supplies and continue to have fun learning. Our art work was able to continue to be displayed on the wall. Students had the correct color crayons that they needed. They were able to add art work to their writing and so much more!
Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and helping to ease the cost of replenishing the basic supplies that are needed in a kindergarten classroom. You rock!”

Funded Aug 18, 2018It is hard to believe that my kindergarten students have been in school for a couple of months already. We have fully implemented all of our literacy stations and I have to say that this year the implementation process has been the easiest! Teaching students how to follow the routine and the rules in the literacy stations takes time and then we are able to add in the more fun and engaging, instructional activities. By having these resources and materials, that you helped fund, my students have been given the opportunity to have more time in literacy stations and have fun while they are learning!
Students are more engaged than in years past. They are excited for our literacy station time in our classroom and can't wait to see what choices they have each day. The detective station has by far been one of the favorites. I personally believe it is because they have so many choices. They can choose to wear a hat, different glasses and use a pointer. They are then able to grab their auditory phone and clipboard and they are ready to read and write the room. My students practice their reading skills by rereading our classroom poems, anchor charts and big books and hear their own voice which is a vital component for emerging readers. They are able to practice their writing by using a clipboard to record their words and pictures that they find throughout the room. Students are also having a blast picking up their favorite book and reading it to a puppet. They have more confidence in their reading ability and I am able to hear them use expression as they read to the puppet buddy. Learning to read and write is much more fun when students have choices!
Thank you for helping my students and our classroom to have more engaging resources so their brain's would "take notice!" They have grown so much already as a reader and writer in just a short time. I cannot wait to see their growth and progress at the end of the year. Please be sure to check out the photos of this project in action and follow our learning on twitter at #FarrsClassroom. You're awesome! You're the best! You Rock!”

Creating a Kindergarten Keepsake
Funded May 23, 2018Today, I am able to share with you the impact that you had on helping my students create a keepsake memory book that they can treasure forever. This project funded just in time for us to receive all the materials needed to finish our books and have them ready for our Kindergarten Celebration Day.
Kindergarten Celebration Day is when all kindergarten students walk across the stage, receive their kindergarten completion certificate, and have a have special celebration in their classroom. Once my students were back in our classroom, we had a special time celebrating the fun and learning that happened throughout the year. At the end of the celebration, my students were able to get their Kindergarten Keepsake book that they created to share with their parents and loved ones. There were many tears shed from the moms and thank yous from the dads. As a parent, you know that your child has grown so much in one year but being able to see pictures and their academic growth in a book created for you is just so special.
Thank you for helping me to provide my students and their families with a keepsake memory book that they will be able to cherish forever. I invite you to continue to follow our learning journey that we share on Twitter @FarrsClassroom. Thank you again for being a treasured supporter of my students. You rock!”

Funded May 24, 2018Today, I am able to share with you the impact you had on adding more opportunity for art into my kindergarten classroom. My students love to create and because of that we go through a lot of consumable resources. Thank you for stepping up and supporting my classroom to place more art tools in the hands of my creative kindergarten students.
All of these awesome materials arrived the last couple weeks of school. So for the last couple days of school, each day was a theme day. We had bubbles day, chalk day, art masterpiece day and so much more. While each day had a theme, the students were free to create within that theme while using those types of materials. Our outside sidewalks became the most beautiful creations! Self portraits, drawings, hopscotch were decorated across the sidewalks in the most imaginative designs. Watching the students' faces light us with amazement as they used their rainbow scratch paper to create the most colorful designs was inspiring. I heard many students share that they were going to ask their parents to buy them some of these same resources so they could continue to create and be an artist throughout the summer! If I was able to attach a video of my students sharing the fun that they had, the video would go on for hours.
You helped my students see themselves as capable of being creative and identify as an artist. For that, I will always be so thankful. I hope you continue to choose to support my classroom and I invite you to follow our learning journey that we share on Twitter @FarrsClassroom. Thank you again for supporting my creative kindergarten students. You rock!”

Funded Feb 17, 2018I am so excited to update you on a recent project that you helped fund that provided engaging math games for my students. We received all of the materials and math games and were able to use for the last several weeks of school. Students were begging for more time in their math stations once they saw and explored all of these great math games. As a teacher, nothing could make me happier!
Every day in our classroom, my students receive math instruction on their level in a small group with me. When they are not working with me, they are then using these math games and resources in their independent math stations. My small group instruction was more effective because I was not having to manage and help students in their independent math stations. Students loved using the math building houses to explore numbers by adding and subtracting to create the whole. For some students they were able to match the number of dots to the numeral block. For other students, this provided a challenge as they used 2 or more blocks to add the dots together to match with the numeral block. They even started to make it a game with their partner to see who could use the most blocks to display their math addition house. They loved these math stations, they were very engaged and it provided plenty of challenge and support for their needs!
Thank you for helping to add more fun, engaging and challenging math games to our math resources in our classroom. You have helped my students see themselves as strong, smart and capable. I appreciate your support and hope that you choose to continue to support #FarrsClassroom. I also invite you to follow our learning journey that we share on Twitter at @FarrsClassroom. Thank you again for supporting the sweetest and most deserving kindergarten students that I know. You rock!”

Engaging Literacy Games for Kindergarten Students
Funded Feb 17, 2018I am excited to update you today on the success of the literacy games and resources that you helped provide for my students. These materials really spiced up our reading time in our classroom. My students were able to be actively engaged with a variety of literacy games at different levels while I worked with small groups of students on their reading goals. This completely changed our literacy time in our classroom for the better!
When all of the boxes were finally delivered, we took time to learn how to use the materials and take care of the games so that we could use them over and over again and for years to come! My students did not disappoint me. They are very responsible and did an excellent job taking care of our new and exciting materials. The alpha-robots were a huge hit in our robot station area and I loved listening in on the conversations. I overheard several students give the robots names according to their letter and playing games with partners by seeing who could list the most items that began with their alpha-robot sound. My teacher heart was bursting with excitement when I watched a quiet little boy who has been learning English this year becoming confident in his English by using the alpha-robots to play with another student. He was quickly identifying letter sounds that he was struggling with and becoming more confident to speak up in small groups. The sensory treasure tub provided lots of laughs for my students as they were building their fine motor skills, identifying letters and finding their match. The learning locks provided a challenge for my students to read simple words and find the matching picture. There was something for every student and every need with this project!
I could write pages and pages of how these materials improved our classroom and sweet stories of the conversations that started with my students because of these materials. Many students who were struggling with reading started to become so excited for this time in our day. They called it playtime but little did they realize that they were playing with materials that were purposefully selected to helped build their confidence and reading abilities.
Thank you for supporting my classroom and helping to make reading more fun for the sweetest kindergarten students. I hope you continue to check back in our classroom and choose to be repeating supporter. Like the famous quote, it takes a village, and I am thankful to have a wonderful village supporting my classroom. Thank you again for supporting #FarrsClassroom. You rock!”

Doodling in 3D
Funded Feb 17, 2018I am excited to share with you that the 3Doodler pens were a huge hit in our classroom this Spring. Before the set even arrived in the classroom, we watched several YouTube videos to get familiar with the pens and it sure built some excitement in the classroom. My students were asking every morning if their 3Doodler pens were delivered. Once they finally arrived, I am pretty sure that they unpacked in record speed!
My kindergarten students had been planning for weeks what their first design and creation with the 3D pens would be. They were determined and persevered until they were proud of their work. These 3D pens were used to create sight words that they could take home to practice. They designed costume accessories to be added to our dramatic play area and even made little gifts for each other to spread kindness! At the end of the school year, every student was able to to create something special that they wanted to take home to remember kindergarten and something special to give to someone else. These 3D pens not only extended learning experiences in my classrooms but provided my students with a tool to spread kindness to others.
Next year, (Yes, it is summer break but as a teacher my brain does not turn off and I am already planning for my next group!) my students will be able to begin the year with the 3Doodlers. I already have plans of them creating name plates that they can keep at school and take home. We will also use the pens to designs alphabet letters to use for various alphabet activities. Hopefully you can tell that these 3Doodlers are well loved and will be used for years to come. I hope you stay in touch and continue to come back and "visit" our classroom page and follow our classroom learning journey @FarrsClassroom on twitter. Thank you for supporting my classroom and students!”
