  • Learning Daily Living Skills for a Purpose

    Funded Mar 1, 2025

I was so excited when I received the great news that this project was fully funded.

My preschoolers will be so excited to open the boxes of all of the new items for the classroom.

I can’t wait to see which items they choose to play and explore with first!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

  • We Will Stand Up to Any Bully

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

My preschoolers absolutely love the new corner chair and mirror. They love to look at themselves in the mirror. The chair has been used as a time to calm down as well as a time in which two of the students can look at books together.

My students have grown closer as a class and function as a little unit. They are better about standing up to others when bullying starts. The mirror has been great because I use it as an "affirmation station". I direct the whole group to that area if I see a need arise. I have also noticed several of the students go over to it on their own and reference the pictures while they are looking at themselves in the mirror.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

  • Preschoolers Growing a Garden in the Winter

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

We waited until after Christmas break to start our indoor garden with the growing kit. We planted Thyme, Rosemary, Bail and Cilantro. All of these herbs are quick growing. We are already seeing sprouts come up. The children are so excited to check everyday. They have come in and report on the growth verbally to me.

I have decided to make this an "extra" science center. I have added magnifying glasses and I will add journals in which they can "write" or draw about what they are observing daily.

This has already turned into a fantastic, hands- on activity my preschoolers are able to take part in.”

  • New Resources for a New School Year

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you so much for the continued support I receive from donors like you for my classroom. Through this grant, I have been able to access so many new resources for my classroom such as toys, shelving and wonderful books. My students love to move around the classroom and discover new items I have strategically placed in each center daily. I have not introduced these resources all at once, rather slowly, so they can enjoy each one.

My students have a wide range of resources to choose from during the day and while they are in each center. I'm so thankful the children have the opportunity to come to me when they discover a new toy and need help in learning how to play with it. This is all due to this grant.”

  • Preschool Classroom Library

    Funded Sep 3, 2023

I have been so blessed to receive many new toys and resources for my classroom through this grant. I don't want to introduce them all at once, so I have slowly been adding the items to my classroom throughout the year.

My students have been so excited to discover these items in each center.

I have not made a big deal out of these items, I just place them around the room. It's so fun, because I can spend a few quality minutes with each student when they bring the item to me wanting to know what it is and how to play with it.

I am so incredibly thankful for this project to be funded. Thank you again for supporting our littlest learners.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

  • A Relaxing Sense of Space

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

My preschoolers absolutely love the new kitchen items I received through this project. Both the boys and girls in each class play with the materials daily. They are learning to share, play cooperatively and engage in pretend play.

I have observed some really good math skills being put to use as well as early literacy and prewriting skills. They sort out food items, pretend to measure, stir and cook things and have to wait their turn to go to this area. They put their name on a clipboard while waiting.

Thank you again for all of your support you give to my preschool special education class.”

  • Explore Science

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

My new and improved science center is a big hit with the preschoolers. The new shelving has provided a much needed organizational feature that I did not have before. The new supplies are very popular as well. There is always at least one child in this center exploring with the science supplies that are available.

The way my classroom is arranged now with the small shelves has made a big impact on the flow of the room. Center time is organized chaos now. The height of the shelves makes it easier for the adults to always have a set of eyes on all of the children.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing to my classroom. I feel so blessed to have received this donor's choose.”

  • Taking Care of Our Earth

    Funded Sep 19, 2022

My students have absolutely loved using our new science materials to learn the value of taking care of our environment. They were given the opportunity to put a variety of materials and substances in the test tubes to explore how they react. For example, they put oil, water and vinegar in each then added food coloring. They predicted and drew pictures of what they thought would happen to each liquid. The students learned that oil and water do not mix and oil is very hard to clean up.

I am so grateful my students have been given the opportunity to explore with materials and see first hand the impact they have on our earth.

I am excited to give my students more opportunities to learn how their actions can impact our earth.”

  • New Year, New Things

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

This school year has started off with a bang in my preschool class. We have had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a lot of new items through this donors choose grant. My children have enjoyed new puzzles, a variety of art medium to explore with, and a lot of fine motor toys and games. They have many options during our table work time in which to practice their name with dry erase markers and the sleeves purchased. This is wonderful because not only are the children learning how to use the dry erase markers, but also how to use an eraser to clean up after themselves. This saves so much paper from being wasted as well.

Thank you again for your kind donation.”

  • Creating Art in the Process

    Funded Jul 6, 2022

My preschool students absolutely LOVE the new easel I received through generous donations. They literally ask to paint daily. We use it not only to finger paint and paint with tempura paint but we also use dry erase markers on it. My children "sign in" daily when they come to school in which they find their name on the sign in sheet and write their name. The sign in sheet is on the easel, so every child is using it every day.

As I have illustrated, the new easel is being utilized for not only artistic expression, but also to encourage literacy skills and name awareness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

A light table will encourage my students to engage and stay focused on content areas such as science and math. I have noticed that while they are energetic and excited to be at school, they tend to lose focus after a few short minutes. I believe I will be able to rotate them through the centers more evenly with a light table. We will have the opportunity to explore the properties of the objects and colors and compare and contrast with and without light. The students will be allowed to count, sort, measure and manipulate the objects. They will be able to see, feel, and touch them. While the children are excited to be at school once there, some have a difficult time leaving their parents as they are still in preschool. I plan to place the light table by the door where they are dropped off.
