We Love to Learn! ¡Nos Encanta Aprender!
Funded Jan 23, 2023We are so grateful for your donation. Since the day we received the learning games you so generously purchased, we have been using them. When the items first arrived, the students were beyond excited. They helped me open the amazon boxes and cheered every time a new item was taken out of the box. One student even asked if the person who sent the items works with Santa. Another student told me that he couldn't believe someone was so kind to purchase these games just for them to use! The games are included in the lessons I teach, depending on the skill being taught. This allows the students to use them almost every time they are in my room. Myself and my students are beyond thankful for your very kind donation. I hope you can picture the smiles you put on my students faces when I bring out the items you gave them! Thank you again!”

Help Us Fill Our Book Baggies!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Your donation has allowed the students in my class to not only grow as learners, but enjoy what they were reading. This has had a huge impact on their time in the classroom. As you know, reading is what builds language and imagination.
Because of these book, the students are silent during reading time because they are so intrigued by the books in their bags.
All of my students, are enjoying the new books. From the pictures to the words, there is something for all of them to be able to read, look at and discuss.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Antonioli
This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and one other donor.Help Us Learn How to Read With Emergent Storybooks!
Funded Nov 15, 2016My students and I can not thank you enough for your very generous gift! We cherish the books that we have been given! The books that you helped purchase are used daily in my classroom. There is a sense of comfort when reading these "old favorites" of ours. They are familiar text that were fun to read before my students can truly read (while they are only reading the pictures or from memorization) until now where they can actually decode the words. These books are great for all students, no matter what they reading level is. Not only do we enjoy reading them, but they are fun use with many of the lessons that are taught. We use these books to discuss characters, feelings, text to self or text to text connection, setting, sequence, main idea and plot. I have made puppets to go along with the books, so that the some students can act out the story when their character is speaking and another student can be the narrator.
Reading workshop is one of our favorite times of our day! During the beginning of our reading time I teach a quick mini lesson. The mini lesson involves three different things. First, I teach the students what we will be learning that day while connecting it to previous lessons. Then, I model what they should be practicing when they go off to read. Finally, the students are able to practice it as whole class. After the mini lesson, the students go off independently to read by themselves. During this time they are practicing what they have learned so far as well as what was taught that day. After reading for about 10-15 minutes by themselves, they meet up with their reading partner and find a cozy place in the classroom to read together. After another 10-15 minutes, we meet together as a class to share our practices!
Every student in my classroom loves all of the books that were donated. In one of the pictures you can see all of my students with their hands in the air. They put their hands way up high and shouted, "ME", when I asked who loves to read all of these books. These books really help my English Language Learners because they are all repetitive and the stories can be told through the pictures, which makes it a lot easier for them. My students LOVE to read because they are able to enjoy the books that you have so kindly donated. Thank you again!”
