Dyslexia Awareness Books
Funded Oct 23, 2018I am incredibly thankful to you for donating to my project! This project is dear to my heart and I am so excited about the impact it will have on the students at our school. All the books have arrived and I have shared a couple of them with my kindergarten class already. These books are either about dyslexia or have main characters with dyslexia. My own son, who has dyslexia, has loved having me read them to him. He has picked out his favorite that we will read to his 3rd grade class. These stories are great for the students with dyslexia in our school and they are also great for ALL students to learn empathy for others. They are available to all students to check out and take home. Additionally, parents and teachers can check out the dyslexia resource books for their own study and learning. I am so happy to bring this awareness to my community and feel so blessed that you chose to support my project! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Wiggle While We Work
Funded Aug 22, 2018Wow, I am just so incredibly thankful to all of you! Thank you so much for your contributions and for investing in our classroom! I truly am in awe of your generosity and support.
The students have absolutely loved using the wobble chairs. We began by explicitly teaching them the right and wrong ways to use them. They were so excited when we finally got to start implementing them. We use them at one of our centers, which all students rotate through each day. I am impressed with how responsible the students are when they use them. They are much more focused at that center and are just so much happier...because they are allowed to move around and wiggle a bit. We simply love the chairs and are all so grateful for them!
Thank you, again, for your kindness! I feel indebted to each of you and feel very blessed!”

Funded Mar 2, 2018We simply LOVE our LCD writing tablets! The students are SO much more engaged and motivated to write when we are working with our small groups! We practice writing letters, our sight words, sentences, and even add pictures all on the LCD tablets. The students are taking great care to be gentle with these tablets so that they will last us a long time to come.
I am so extremely grateful to you for donating to our cause. It was such a nice surprise to come home after a long day, and then see the sweet email saying my project was funded. I love making my classroom a place where learning is fun, exciting, and current. Thank you for helping me reach that goal!”

Let There Be Light!
Funded Feb 25, 2018Wow! It has been so fun using the sensory materials for our light table! We were able to get three different types of sensory materials...and the students absolutely love them. We've been spelling our sight words in the materials as well as just exploring with them. It's been amazing to see how it can really help calm down some of our sensory kiddos especially when they need a break. In addition, it's been fun for all the students to explore the properties of color and light while using these manipulatives.
We were also able to get the Engineer-a-Coaster kit from Lakeshore Learning. These has been such an exciting way for students to use critical thinking skills during our "Explore Center." I love seeing the students completely engaged in figuring out these puzzles and challenges.
It's so important to me that my classroom is a fun and exciting place to learn. Thank you so much for helping me achieve that goal! I am truly so grateful for your donation to help my classroom! Thank you!”

More to Explore
Funded Jan 25, 2018I wish you could have seen the look on my students' faces when I told them our new materials arrived! It was like Christmas morning! Everyone was so excited and couldn't wait until our "centers" time. There were excited whispers, surprised faces, and truly grateful attitudes.
We get to use our sand, sand table, and STEM materials every day during centers. I love watching the students work together and use their critical thinking skills to solve problems and explore new challenges.
The students are loving making paths with our Create-A-Path Magnetic Center from Lakeshore. It is fun to see the different things they can create and figure out through this STEM activity.
Currently, the favorite activity seems to be the sand and sand toys. (Although, I'm not sure the janitors feel the same, HAHA). The kids LOVE this center! They are pouring, digging, and playing their little hearts out. I love seeing the excitement that comes from this activity and I'm so glad my kindergartners can experience so much fun through learning!
This project has had such a huge effect on our classroom that it inspired me to start another Donors Choose project. I really want more engaging and thought-provoking activities in my classroom to make learning FUN and effective.
I am just so grateful to all of you for making this happen! Thank you, thank you, thank you! It means the world to me and to my class!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kemeny
