We Love Books
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you SO much for donating to this project! It means so much to me to have your support.
We have a new ELA curriculum this year and I'm collecting books that align with the topics we are learning about. It's so nice to have a class set of the book, "Pyramids" and also, "The Frog Prince." We'll be reading about pyramids during our unit on ancient world civilizations and we'll be able to read, "The Frog Prince" when we learn about fairy tales.
Students will be able to choral read these stories aloud as a class. They will also be able to read them in partners. This will be such good reading practice for them!
Thank you again for supporting out classroom! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Funded May 8, 2024Wow, thank you so much for donating to this project! Click, Clack, Moo is such a fun story and perfect for 1st grade! It is so nice to now have a class set of this fantastic book! This would not have been possible if it were not for your generous donation. Thank you so much!
We use this book to read aloud together as well as to read in partners. We also use it to practice opinion writing. Students love to share their opinion on whether they think Farmer Brown should give the ducks the diving board they're asking for or not. It sparks so many fun discussions.
Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

Funded Jun 20, 2024We are so grateful for your support of this project! We love Frog and Toad books and are so happy to now have a class set of them. The books just arrived yesterday. The students saw me unboxing them and were so excited.
We will be using these books in February or March of this school year. Right now, these books are a bit too hard for students to read on their own. In a few months, they'll be perfect. We will read the stories together as a class and we will also read them in partners. Then we'll connect them to our writing as well.
Thank you again for making this possible! It means so much!”

A Whole Lot of Whole Phonics Part 2
Funded Feb 21, 2024Wow, I'm so thankful and honored that you donated to our class project! We love using the decodable books by Whole Phonics in our classroom! It is so wonderful to be able to have more of these vibrant, engaging books! Now that we have multiple copies, we can use them during small group instruction, in our classroom library for reading during our free time, and even check some out to take home to read to our families! Thank you so much for making this possible. We couldn't have done it without you!”

A Whole Lot of Whole Phonics
Funded Nov 28, 2023It's hard to adequately express how thankful I am to all of you! Jill Lauren recently introduced me to Whole Phonics books and I fell in love! I knew I had to figure out a way to get more of them in my classroom. I never would have imagined the overwhelming support I got in such a short amount of time. I'm incredibly grateful. Thank you so much!
Now that we have more Whole Phonics decodables, we can read them together in small groups. It's so nice to have enough for the 4-6 students at my small group table. My first graders are enjoying the fun storylines and detailed pictures these books provide.
Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

Funded Mar 2, 2023I am so grateful for your support of my project to get more diverse books in our classroom. Literature provides such a wonderful way for students learn about the lives of others as well as see their own lives reflected in the books provided to them.
It has been so fun to receive these books in our classroom! I love watching the students' faces as I read these excellent books to them. They love them! And they love flipping through the pages and rereading them on their own afterwards. Thank you so much for suporting our collection of diverse books. It means so much to me.”

I am so thankful to receive all these beautiful books for our classroom. My first graders LOVE books and love it when I read to them. The students are excited and intrigued every time I pull out a new book to read. I love being able to expand students' vocabulary, increase their enjoyment, and raise the roof of their listening comprehension. There are so many benefits to rich read-alouds in the classroom.
Thank you again! You are so wonderful and we appreciate you!”

Funded Aug 30, 2022I am so grateful to all of you! It is so wonderful to have a nice collection of books to send home with my students each week.
My first-graders take three books home on Mondays and return them on Fridays. They love being able to show off their reading skills at home and I love that they get additional meaningful practice opportunities outside of school.
Thank you so much for contributing to this project! It means so much to me that you would invest in our classroom. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Take Home Books
Funded Jun 27, 2022I am so grateful to each of you for donating to this project! We are just a few weeks into the school year, and we are already enjoying these books! The pictures are so colorful and the stories interesting. I love that the books are decodable, where the students are only expected to read words with the phonics skills that I have taught. I have been learning where my students are academically, and now we are ready to start having them check out these books to take home. I love that this will give them the opportunity to practice their phonics skills with a caregiver at home. It will be a great way for parents to see what we are working on in school. Thank you so much for making this possible for us. It means so much!”

Books, Books, and More Books
Funded May 5, 2022We are just a few weeks into the new school year and we are already enjoying the items we got as a result of this Donor's Choose project. The decodable books are so engaging! The story lines are fun and the pictures are darling. I love that the books have controlled words, where I can ensure students are practicing the phonics skills that I have taught them. The students love reading them.
The bags are incredibly durable, which is important since they will be going to and from school often. We are starting our "Take-Home Books" program this week. The students are excited to take books home to read with their caregiver. I think this will be a great way for students to have more practice opportunities.
It means so much to me that you donated to this project. Thank you so much for your support!”
