  • Tie Dye Teaches Chemistry

    Funded Jan 31, 2012

Thank you everyone for your generous donations to help make our Tie Dye lab a success for the second year in a row! With your materials, we were able to provide an awesome activity for over 200 students!

Students brought in shirts and learned about the different techniques in dying and then were able to choose the color and technique for their very own shirt. Many students had never tie-dyed their own shirt and this was certainly a memorable experience!

We really appreciate your support of our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cushing

  • The Body Toxic Interdisciplinary Unit

    Funded Jan 30, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation of Body Toxic Books to my classroom! My students have already started reading the books and are fascinated with some of the ideas in them about how chemicals are such an integral part of our everyday lives!

Specifically, students love the chapter on makeup and how the chemicals are not even regulated by the government. We had a fishbowl discussion in class where students made connections to different parts of their everyday lives and the students were very vocal about their concerns after reading this book.

Thank you again and we really appreciate your support of our classroom!”

  • Dr. Suess Day for Everyone!

    Funded Dec 1, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation of materials and books to help make our Dr. Seuss "Read Across America" Event such a success!

As you can see from the pictures, both the elementary students and high school students had an awesome time celebrating together. We used the materials in our Oobleck station and the students ran the entire event. What a great community event for everyone involved!

In addition, I must have miscalculated because I had lots of glue left over for next year's event so your donations will impact future students and this event again!

    Thank you!”

    Ms. Cushing

  • iPod Touch Helps Us Learn

    Funded Nov 19, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The iPod Touch has been an incredible asset and a source of excitement in the classroom in a few short days!

Students have way more knowledge than I do about how to effectively use the iPod Touch. With their help, I have downloaded relative applications and resources that would assist in the classroom. Pandora has provided some music we use during our warm up and working time to cut the tension in the room.

Along with the speakers, students are enjoying the technology and I can't wait to find other ways to integrate it into our daily practice. Thank you again!”

  • Essential Supplies For a Chemistry Classroom

    Funded Nov 5, 2011

I want to thank you so very much for your generous donation to my classroom this year. The markers, hole punch, and pencils have already been put to great use and the rest of the supplies will be used shortly.

We are currently working on balancing chemical equations and the markers have allowed my students to practice their work using whiteboards. This has been incredibly helpful and engaging for my students.

The pencils have really given me a relief to give to students who are not prepared. The hole punch is really helpful for students organizing their notebooks.

    Thank you again!”

  • AP Chemistry Labs

    Funded Jun 9, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation of lab materials to my classroom. Thanks to you, we now have the resources to do more exciting lab activities and demonstrations. This makes the class more exciting, engaging and interesting my students.

The chemicals allowed us to explore the concepts of catalysts and activation energy using a demonstration called elephant toothpaste. The students were so interested and engaged. I'm also looking forward to using the and boilers for the students to complete simple distillations- I can't wait for that activity as well.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cushing

  • A Classroom Should Be Clean and Organized For Learning

    Funded Jun 15, 2011

Thank you very much for your donation of supplies to our very deserving classroom! With all of the activities and projects we do in my class, it was beginning to create a mess!

Now that flu season is upon us, the students were really happy to assist me in cleaning their tables to help them stay healthier. Not only did I appreciate their help, but they got to be a part of being proud of keeping the classroom clean for us to be able to learn in a healthy environment.

Thank you again for your generous donation and know that we really appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cushing

  • Let's Repeat Clay and Glass Etching Projects in Chemistry

    Funded Jun 9, 2011

Thank you for your generous donation of clay and tools to my classroom. Thanks to you, a whole new group of students will get to experience creating art in my classroom in the fall.

My current students were gracious enough to show off the projects completed this year to get a taste of what my future students will do in the fall. The boxes of clay will allow students to express themselves and learn about the chemistry behind the medium of clay. Its the best of both worlds!

Thank you again for your donation and for helping my students have the opportunity for this experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cushing

  • Flip Cameras Help Record Our Class!

    Funded Jun 9, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation of Flip cameras to my classroom! They came just in time to be able to record some of the outstanding final projects that my students presented for their finals this semester. Now I will be able to show off the best presentations to my students next year as a model for how to complete the assignment.

I also can't wait for next year to record model lessons, give students the opportunity to record their laboratory experiences, and help students be more creative in their learning.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cushing
