  • Eggstraordinary Kinder Learning Eggsperience

    Funded May 5, 2022

Thank you so much for your donations! My students are going to enjoy watching our chicken eggs hatch! Students will learn so much about life cycles. This project will be one of the things students remember learning about in kindergarten. Instead of just showing my students pictures or videos they will see and take part in the life cycle process. I can't wait to bring this project to my classroom for my students - thanks to all of you! Again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • We Deserve To Make Beautiful Things Without Making a Mess.

    Funded Jun 15, 2020

I am beyond touched by everyone's generous contributions to our project. It is so important to me to be able to have my kinder cuties paint and create art as often as we ca, and this will make that happen.

The world is filled with kind beautiful people, and art lets us express so much of what we feel.

I am beyond humbled by your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • This Is No Stone Tablet!

    Funded Dec 17, 2011

My students have been able to learn coding and build early literacy skills using the tablet. They rotate through various centers during their independent work time. By far their favorite center is the technology center.

I am dyslexic and they enjoy checking my math and spelling for me. It's a great tool for them to use, and a way for them to understand that even people with learning disabilities can become quite successful in life.

My class also takes virtual field trips and watch various youtube videos to support our lessons. Bill Nye is one of their favorites. Another is School House Rocks. All of which help support broadening their experiences while in the classroom.”

  • Learning At Our Fingertips

    Funded Jan 27, 2012

Thank you all so much for your generosity. It is amazing what people can do when they all work together. My students will be so happy to add this amazing piece of technology to our classroom.

Ablility to gain access to the Internet right from our seats will help my students reach their academic goals, and move he the 21st century. Anytime I can give my students access to technology, their interest in learning shoots right through the roof.

We all appreciate each and every contribution.”

  • Surprise! Supplies!! Surprise!!!

    Funded Aug 30, 2010

I just wanted to say thank you or the generous donation to my classroom. My students use the items I requested daily.  One of the most important items use is is a set of highlighter markers.  My English learner students have a hard time organizing their writing, and the highlighters are a great tool for them.

Just knowing I don't have to tell my students, sorry we're out of glue sticks, or pens, or anything else we use daily, is such a treat.  They know where the supplies are and are able to get what they need, when they need it.

    We appreciate your generosity deeply”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • Picture This!

    Funded Aug 30, 2010

I would love to thank you on behalf of my entire class. We now have a camera that I don't have to keep putting batteries in, I just charge it and it's ready to go.

We use the camera to take pictures of different steps in our science experiments, and then post those photos on the classroom walls for reference.  Because we write all the academic vocabulary we expect the students to use, it is extremely valuable for our English learners' success.

Having more current technology helps my students feel successful in school.  There are so many struggles in their personal lives, that to just have a working camera to use in multiple ways means a lot to my students.

    Your generosity is deeply appreciated”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • Art Is Essential, Just Ask Leonardo daVinci

    Funded Aug 13, 2010

My students still can't get over how much better watercolor painting is when you have watercolor paper, not construction paper.

Thank you for opening their eyes to art, real art, not just crayons and markers. The first time they sketched with charcoal, they couldn't believe that they could draw something that beautiful.

The next lesson is going to be teaching the students how to write with the calligraphy pens. They will be making illuminated manuscripts as part of our communications unit.

Without your kindness, my kids would never have experienced the pleasure of creating, which is the divine in all of us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • A River Runs Through It

    Funded Apr 19, 2010

This has been one of the most amazing things I have brought into my classroom. The boys and girls come in every morning to see the fish and check on the plants. We have been able to watch a dean fish begin the decomposition process and the other organisms that benefit from a rich environment.

They have begun to look a little more carefully at life around them. In the city that's not always easy to see. My students asked if next school year can they come back and check on the river in our classroom.

Thank you for a great beginning in their understanding of the cycle of life, and how we can influence it. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

  • Ecosystem Elements

    Funded Apr 8, 2010

How can we even begin to say thank you for your generosity? From the beginning when I wrote the proposal my students could hardly wait. They are amazed by the fact that people want to give them materials to help them learn. The excitement that this has created has inspired my students to begin researching the various elements of an ecosystem.

They were equally amazed that a movie would want to help give students this special experience. We visited the Furry Vengeance website and they began discussing how difficult it is to balance development and preservation. But every discussion ended with the plants and animals needing to be protected.

I hope that once we have all the parts to our river ecosystem their learning inspires them to conserve and preserve our natural environment.”

  • From the Flintstones to the Jetsons

    Funded Mar 13, 2010

From the moment we received the computer my students began using it and the results were immediate. Our school has a program called Accelerated Reader. Students read books, take comprehension quizzes and accumulate points. The percentage correct on test went way up due to the availability of a computer that can run the program. Before our new HP netbook it would sometimes take days and the kids would forget parts of the books, "When you don't have to wait so long it's easy to get 100%", exclaimed a student.

My students have come up with great projects to do on the new computer. We are going to make a PSA for Earth Day. Currently we are working on a brochure to explain the rock cycle.

Coming from such a low income area my students have developed a deeper appreciating for people who give so that others can have. This is a direct result of receiving our HP netbook. They are learning to give back as well. We plan on donating to other classroom projects with money we raise.

Thank you for the computer, but even greater, thank you for the real life experiences you have given my class. I am eternally grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nassiri

My students attend a Southern California school in an urban environment. They are hardworking, and very inquisitive. Our 6th grade class is learning to be careful observers of life around them. Trying to give them all a rich learning experience is challenging with the supplies we have. This class has the honor of being the 100th graduating class of our school.
