  • Holiday Cheer During Distance Learning

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

My students appreciated all of their surprise gifts from their teacher. Because of you, I was able to purchase my homeroom students a small token of appreciation for all of their hard work during the first four months of distance learning. My students where able to receive coloring books, novels, journals, sketch books, and anime coloring and sketchbooks. I personally sent in the mail one item to each one of my girls. I have had my students share with me, their peers, and other teachers the drawings they have made in their sketch books. My students and I appreciate and are very thankful for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Reading Is Fundamental

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

My students love to read novels. They especially love to read novels when they know they can write in them and start their own personal library. With your help and donation, my students' can have their own copy of Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt and a gel pen to write in their novel. The skills that my students will learn will not only last this school year, but a lifetime. Tuck Everlasting explores the concept of immortality, which might not be as desirable as it may appear to be. Reading this novel is a time for my students to explore and open up their imagination.

    Your generosity is appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Time To Read Roll Of Thunder

    Funded Oct 7, 2020

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is a 1976 novel by Mildred D. Taylor. It is a book about racism in America during the Great Depression and the Jim Crow era. The novel won the 1977 Newbery Medal. In the society we live in today I think novels like this one is an important read.

My students loved this novel and were very excited to read each day. This novel was set in Mississippi during the Great Depression, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is a searing portrait of family and self-worth. Every child deserves to know Taylor's firebrand protagonist, Cassie Logan, and experience her untiring battle against social injustices and racism.

I thank you for helping my students have their own novel.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Clean Air To Keep Kids Healthy

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

This school year started off completely different than any other year. In November we are supposed to go back to in-person learning. When we do this we are supposed to go back to "normal" life. Our new normal will be wearing a mask all day. No longer will we be able to drink out of the water fountain or do a "waterfall" from our friend's bottle. No longer will we be able to share school supplies with our friends. This is why it was important for us to receive a True HEPA Air Purifier and filters. Thank you for your donation that will allow us to breathe clean air when we are in class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • We Need Hydration

    Funded Jul 1, 2020

This school year started off completely different than any other year. In November we are supposed to go back to in-person learning. When we do this we should be able to resume school sports. No longer will we be able to drink out of the water fountain or do a "waterfall" from our friend's bottle. This is why it was so important for us to have our own reusable water bottle to keep us safe and hydrated. We also have a three-gallon water cooler to fill up our water bottles. Now we will be keeping our part of the world plastic bottle free and keeping safe from sharing.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Clean and Healthy Classroom

    Funded Jul 31, 2020

The words thank you do not seem like enough. You being a thoughtful person will allow me to keep my classroom clean when we go back to in-person learning in November. The cleaning products, batteries to use the automatic hand sanitizer, and vitamin C tablets that were purchased will help my students and I stay safe in this world we are living in. No one knows what the future holds but what I do know is because of your donation my students and I will be able to keep our classroom clean. My students and I appreciate you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Time To Read Beowulf

    Funded Nov 17, 2019

I thank you for giving our students an opportunity to be moved by a book. Thank you to our donors who have donated. The girls are really enjoying the novel. They are more engaged and have become excited to come into the classroom to read their book. Now when you walk into my classroom, you see all the kids reading all around the room. You see them really understanding the text and connecting with the characters. They have become more interactive and I can already see the improvement for wanting to read.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Time To Cheer

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

We are full of joy and excitement and we thank you for your donation. The cheerleaders are now able to be safe while practicing on mats. It is amazing to know that you share our vision for the safety of our student-athletes.

This funded project will help our girls practice safely and the impact will be huge. Two years we had no mats and we were forced to go outside and practice on the turf at the local rec. We have 20 young ladies on our team and these mats will keep them safe as safety is our number one priority.”

  • Sweaters Needed For Warmth

    Funded Nov 25, 2019

Being a school that 100% of your students receive free breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper on a daily basis, one can imagine how the need for other items can also be at the same school. Your generosity has allowed our students to have their own sweater to wear when they are in school that keeps to the uniform policy. So many of our students come to school cold and were in need of a sweater to keep warm while in class. The students are now able to concentrate on their academic work and not worry about being cold. We thank you for helping our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

  • Girls Who Read Succeed

    Funded Nov 17, 2019

My students love to read novels. They especially love to read novels when they know they are able to write in them and start their own personal library. We have read Tuck Everlasting and they loved this novel. My students were able to imagine what it would be like to live forever at one age. The skills that my students have learned will not only last this school year, but a lifetime. In my classroom reading is a time to explore and open up your imagination. Reading this novel definitely opened the imagination up for all of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. H.

My students love to read and with each girl having her own novel she will be able to take home the book and read. Reading is a way to escape the chaos and go live inside their imagination and go wild. These books will allow the girls to start their own personal library. No one should ever be denied access to having their own personal library. Each girl having her own novel is something she will be able to keep with her for a lifetime. By donating to our project, you will help to improve and increase student attention and focus and increase their academic achievement.
