I am so excited right now! My class had an opportunity to use one of these robots once and they fell in love! I cannot wait to get them programming!! I think so many people think they cannot program or code. I’m looking forward to showing them they can! Thank you so much for all of your help!!!!”

  • Expressing Ourselves

    Funded Oct 10, 2016

Thank you so much again for the supplies for our classroom! Our class was really running down to the bare bones and it got to the point we couldn't keep up with our needs anymore! It's hard to believe that we would need basics like pencils and paper! I can't tell you how excited everyone in when the materials started to arrive!

It sounds silly but the students have loved having pencils with erasers on them again! Many of my students also don't have pencils at home to work on materials and it is helpful to be able to make sure they have what they need to be successful. Of course the new pencil sharpener helped to make sure that we were always ready to write!

The copy paper was a huge help to us to print review materials for the students to be able to work on from home. We don't have enough text books for each child to have one and so we have to rely on creating our own materials. They have had an enormous amount of testing to prepare for and without the copy paper, I wouldn't have been able to print it all. We also use paper for various art projects to help reinforce our instruction. We now have enough to create items like flip books! The glue sticks also help create those projects and have allowed us to continue working on our interactive learning journals.

Finally, the tissue! We can't thank you enough. Being in South Carolina, we have really bad pollen! There are times it looks like it is actually snowing pollen! We hadn't been able to keep tissue in my classroom as so many students had been suffering from seasonal allergies. We resorted to those brown paper towels but their noses were so red by the end of the day!

I know that my students and are I so grateful that you found it in your heart to support our class! We do struggle often with having basic materials. This was such an enormous help and really allows us to finish off the school year the right way. Thank you again so much!”

This classroom project was brought to life by #BestSchoolDay and one other donor.
My students all come from extreme poverty backgrounds. They struggle daily with having enough food in their tummies. School for them is one of the only places that they get to feel safe. They are eager to learn and want to get their education so that they can have a better life. One of their favorite ways is by utilizing technology. Unfortunately, the three computers in my classroom are extremely old and tend to lock up in the middle of doing any kind of activities.
