  • Reading Is a Passport to Countless Adventures

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for a variety of different text for my class. We have received different level books from levels A to J. This is such a huge range of books for my children who are approaching level and above level. They have worked in small groups based on their level. Together they took turns reading the text and speaking about the text. After, they drew pictures of their favorite part and then they related it to their own life. Students were so excited to relate the text and share their own stories. Thank you again for these fabulous books for our classroom. We are so lucky!”

  • First Grade Scholastic News Scholars

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Scholastic has been a huge help in our social studies and science curriculum. Scholastic News is kid-friendly current events that my students enjoy every month. Every issue has featured on-level informational texts. There are lesson plans that meet today's standards, and online resources. The magazine has helped build reading skills and increase science and social studies knowledge. Each lesson has engaging informational texts, complete lesson plans, and online resources like videos. My students love exploring a new magazines based on the months topic. In November we learned about Veterans and Native Americans.”

  • Books Organization

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you very much for this fabulous book shelf organizer. This book shelf has made it super easy for children to navigate different leveled books. Each leveled book is in its own bin ranging from levels A to P based off reading level F & P. Every week children go to the book shelf and explore. They explore books on their level and/or 1 level above. Students love the opportunity to explore and pick out their own books to bring home. They read the books every night to their families. My students and I love this new book shelf organizer in our classroom. It has been a helpful tool in our classroom.”

  • Sensory Play for SEL

    Funded Aug 22, 2021

Our students have been so lucky exploring different materials you have donated. Our students have an enrichment sensory play group 1x a week and they get to explore. Sensory play helps to build nerve connections in the brain. It encourages the development of motor skills. It supports language development. It encourages scientific thinking' and problem solving. It can involve mindful activities which are beneficial for all children. So far, we have explored kinetic sand, sensory paint, different fidget toys and drew pictures. These tools have helped our program succeed and also brought happiness and fun to 24 students. We are so grateful for the new tools.”

  • Blast Off Sensory Path

    Funded Aug 30, 2019

"Imagine having a radio on full volume while trying to teach a child how to read. It is nearly impossible, and you might even get a little anxiety, right? The muscles tense, you become agitated, you start talking a little louder, maybe faster or slower. What is happening to you is your body's response to a stimuli. However, luckily you are able to turn that radio off and your body adjusts." -The Sensory Path

Thank you so much for your donation towards our Sensory Path! We waited and waited and it has finally been installed. Our new Sensory Path has been a huge hit for our entire school. Our Sensory Path is more than a path... it helps with the movements that our sensory paths must include to reduce sensory need and not overstimulate a chid. Our students come to our Sensory Path and complete a series of movements that are designed to release the child's internalized tension and allow their body and brain to to refocus.

Thank you again for this beautiful gift for our school community.”

  • Sensory & Literacy Fun

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

I am so happy to share we finally have the Sensory Path at our school installed. It took longer than expected since our world was on hold. We were very excited in August when the team was able to come to our school and install it. It has been a little more than a month in school and our students are loving our Sensory Path. Our Sensory Path was designed using techniques to reduce sensory seeking behavior and increase cognitive learning. When children start to lose cognitive functioning during the learning process, it is very helpful to give children some sensory input. Different movements are offered in our Sensory Path which are necessary proprioceptive and vestibular input to help a child regain focus and control, which ultimately increases cognitive and retention of new information. Thank you all again for helping this come to life at my school!”

  • Flex 6 Feet Away!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for the flex seats which can be used for social distancing purposes as well. Children need to move at school. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.

I cannot wait to use these in our classroom. My students are so lucky to have multiple seating options in the classroom when they need a break or even a flexible seat. This will promote a safe learning environment for my students. Thank you again for all your support.”

  • Kindergartens at the Keyboard

    Funded Feb 27, 2020

When we received the laptops in our classroom, each child was able to explore the laptop and have fun. The children played numerous learning games and completed phonics, reading, and math activities on Edmentum Exact Path. The children were so excited to have the laptops in our classroom. They all took turns everyday during centers to use the laptops.

Now that schools are closed many children are using their own laptops and iPads at home to continue learning. The children are excited to use their own laptops and iPads to continue their academics. I am certain that when school resumes they will all be little Kindergarten tech pros! I cannot wait for them to show off what they have learned using technology. They are making me so proud everyday.

Stay safe and healthy- thank you for all your donations.”

  • A Handful of Fun!

    Funded Jan 25, 2019

My kindergarten class were so excited when we unveiled the sand table! It was exciting and exhilarating to see the expression on their beautiful faces. It definitely felt like a great morning! They were amazed and grateful to find out that we received this amazing gift from people whom love and care for them. They were so grateful and their expressions were priceless. It really warmed my heart.

Currently our ICT Kindergarten class has been using the sand table for exploration at recess time and center time. As the year progresses, we will use the sand table as a way to learn about dirt, sand, absorption, seashells, dinosaurs and the water cycle in science. It is a wonderful, engaging way to teach young minds!

At this point, we are learning how to work cooperatively and to take turns using the table! We are also reinforcing social skills and listening skills. Thank you again for the wonderful gift!”

  • Wobble Child, Wobble

    Funded Sep 11, 2018

Thank you for all the generous donations! I I am so blessed to have such wonderful, supportive people in my life. It has been great to implement these items within my classroom this year. My students love the different seating options to help them focus and enjoy learning. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. I have seen how choice can positively affect a child's attitude and behavior towards their work habits, and I hope it will continue to help my children's minds grow even more!

    Have a Happy New Year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Yevoli

In my classroom, I promote hands-on learning because it encourages a student to do something in order for them to learn about it. At a young age, five year old children have to observe and understand what they are learning. After teaching a lesson, I always have the children go into groups to encourage interaction. Hands-on learning encourages children to do things for themselves and work on independence. I plan to use materials such as earth and environment theme boxes, paint, markers, brushes, STEM kit, collage boxes and book bins in my classroom in small and large groups. After I orally and visually teach a lesson, I like to put the children in groups based on their level. While they are in groups, I will allow the children to use the material to experience learning through their hands and working together. After using the hands-on learning materials, then the children can perform the written assignments. Children are able to expand more on their notes when they try things for themselves. For example: I can tell a child that a pumpkin will float in water, and they will most likely believe me. But having a child drop a pumpkin in a bucket of water and experiencing it themselves, will leave a bigger impact on a child.
