One thing my students have really needed is a creative outlet. I purchased several hands-on projects that allowed them to explore mathematics and art. Some of the pictures I shared are from a project that required students to design something entirely out of triangles.
My students also enjoyed review assignments that included a color-by-number component that was connected with the correct answers. You can see pictures of those, too.
My English students benefited as well. They were able to use digital curriculum for test prep and to further explore the literature selections. Thank you for your support!”

Funded May 5, 2021We are well into our school year, and I am pleased to say we are using the supplies you provided and making the most of them! Thank you for providing them!
At present, the markers are getting the most use. My math students love using the markers with the individual whiteboards while they work on homework assignments and group projects. Just last week, my geometry students practiced writing conditional statements in a "speed dating" type situation. They worked one-on-one with each other, explaining the concepts of converse, inverse, and contrapositive. As they rotated from station to station, they used the markers to write various statements.
My English students are making good use of the poster board and colored pencils. We have created artwork to illustrate various scenes in Beowulf and to tell our own epic stories.
I love having the supplies I need to enhance my students' learning. Thank you for making that possible.”

Funded Aug 5, 2020This semester has flown by. I can hardly believe we are three weeks from the end of the semester. One of my challenges this year has been handling the combination of in-class students and virtual/distance-learning students. It has been so much easier to do because of the gift you provided me via my Curriculum From the Experts project.
I have used the gift card to purchase digital lessons for all my math classes and for my English classes. I have really enjoyed the ACT review questions for my math classes. These google forms have allowed students to practice single skills and receive instant feedback. I was able to purchase similar ACT review lessons for my English classes, too.
One of my larger purchases benefited my trig students. I was able to purchase a semester long curriculum that included videos for students who missed class or who are always at home. The videos correspond to the note-taking guides that I use in class, so my at-home students where able to see the same examples as my in-class students. Several of my students have mentioned how they liked this combination.”

Funded Mar 4, 2020Thank you so much for supporting my students and my classroom! I want you to know that there was tremendous excitement when I brought all the new, Spanish-language books into my classroom! Several students were eager to look through the titles and select books to read.
I have one student who has been reading the Chronicles of Narnia series. Typically, she lets me know when she is finished with one, then she waits on me to order the next book. When she saw all the remaining books, she smiled from ear to ear.
We are not in school at the moment. We left for spring break and then discovered that we would be distance learning through the end of the year. I am so glad that some of my students had already selected books from the stack of books that you provided. Thank you, once again, for all you do!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. You are making a difference here one student at a time!
When I first requested the Chromebook and mouse for my classroom, I thought we would just be using it to turn in math assignments. As it turns out, my vision wasn't big enough! Because I have Chromebooks available in my classroom, students in both my math and English classes are able to explore more concepts and dig deeper into the subjects at hand. In my math classes, students like that they have immediate feedback on homework assignments. They also are now able to grab a Chromebook when they are finished and work on review concepts at a number of websites.
In my English classes, we are using the Chromebooks to research papers, increase vocabulary, and collaborate on various projects.
To me, the flexibility students have to access technology and put it to use is the most exciting part of this project. Thanks again for supporting my classes!”

Funded May 23, 2019I am so excited to have received the Chromebook and mouse that you helped purchase. My students are excited as well.
We use technology in all of my class: the English classes and the math ones. In English, we use the Chromebook for writing papers, working on vocabulary and grammar, and also to complete group projects and research projects. In math, we go to a variety of websites to practice math skills, watch videos about how math is used in the real world, and occasionally, to look up concepts that students struggle with.
Having the Chromebook makes it easier for my students to learn and succeed. Oddly enough, my students get just as excited about having the mouse with the Chromebook. It makes it easier to navigate and use the Chromebook.

Funded Mar 27, 2018Let me start by telling you how excited my student athletes were to learn that you had funded my Girdles for GridIron project. My football players and coaches were really happy to hear that they would be receiving new girdles for the fall season. When the girdles arrived, the students couldn't wait to take them back to the locker room and sort through them. I am happy knowing they have newer equipment.
We were also able to purchase a couple mesh bags to make carrying supplies around a little easier. Your help in making the team more mobile is very appreciated.
Finally, we were also able to purchase some simple supplies for the classroom that make learning more enjoyable and fun for all my students (not just the athletes).
At the end of the day, you have made a tremendous impact on our athletes and school. Thank you for your generosity!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Once again, I must say thank you so very much for funding my project Footballs for the Team. Through your generous donation, we have been able to purchase a variety of supplies to help our football team both on and off the field.
First, we were able to purchase gloves for our defensive linemen! They were so excited to have new gloves for their upcoming games. Their hands are protected as they give everything on the field.
We were also able to purchase a couple bags for toting the various supplies: footballs, girdles, gloves, etc., that are so essential to the game of football.
Finally, we purchased a clock and some pencils that are making it easier for the team to keep up with work in the classroom.

Funded Nov 15, 2017Your support has made a tremendous difference to my students and to me. To begin with, my stapler broke a month or so before this project was funded. In a very simple way, we were all delighted to be able to staple papers together! In the same regard, I love having a three hole punch that will work on more than 2-3 papers at a time. Everything in my classroom gets punched and stored in a notebook after students have used it. What a time saver it is for me to have such a good three hole punch.
As you can see from the pictures, we have been making good use of the Easel paper and the colored paper. In my Algebra 1 classes, we recently completed a class activity that required matching functions with their corresponding graphs and then making a presentation to indicate which functions were continuous and which were discrete. Having the graphs in one color and the functions in another made it much easier to keep the two categories separate.
In my college and career math ready class, students often work complex math problems with a partner then present their results to the class. They love having the large sheets of paper for making their presentations.
To be honest, you blessed my heart by supporting my students. Thank you!”

Got Something to Say? Grab a Pencil!
Funded Mar 22, 2017I must tell you that your generosity is making a huge difference in my classroom. The day my project was funded, I let my students know that the supplies were coming. They were excited, and as always, they were amazed that people they don't know would support them in their efforts to learn. I always love how having a project filled lifts my students' spirits.
I put the supplies in to use the same day I received them! My students were so excited to see the pencils, pens, colored pencils and erasers. A couple days after the boxes arrived, the academic team went to a competition. It was wonderful to be able to sharpen pencils and know that we were ready for the scholastic meet.
The reaction to the pencil sharpener has been the best of all. The day after we received our supplies, I had four students (in four different classes) ask to go to the office to sharpen pencils. I loved saying no and pointing to the electric sharpener. Even better than that, two days later I had a student come into my room between classes and ask if he could use my pencil sharpener!! I know it seems like a silly thing, but it is fantastic to have the equipment that makes life simpler!
Next week, my Algebra 2 students are starting a graphing project that will require all those lovely colored pencils. I look forward to starting it and being able to teach in living color!
