Long-Term Learning With Super Science Supplies

Funded Jan 30, 2011

Once again I'd like to sincerely say "Thank you!" for your kind donations to this project. When the first few boxes showed up at our classroom door - the children squealed with delight!

We had to build the greenhouse right away. The kids found a sunny spot for it all on their own. I love how they are becoming independent with these materials - they love how 'cool' they are!

So far we tried one of the "Grow Trees" to see what it would look like over the course of a day. We recorded observations in our science journals and took photos so we can use them for creating a class book about the experience. Now, the "Grow Tree" is in the greenhouse to see what happens over time. There's already been a few crystals falling off! We wonder if they will all fall eventually.

The cactus garden was planted yesterday. We spent some time reading about them first - and now the children can't wait to see the spines that will grow. We should be seeing some activity in the next two weeks.

I am overjoyed with this project. The children are excited and want to learn more.

Thank you! ”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Mikesell
