Kellander’s Kids Stitch
Funded May 3, 2022First of all THANK YOU! Your donations have helped my students immensely. We've been able to successfully have a sewing unit in both 6th and 7th grade FACS at Menomonie Middle School.
When we first started our sewing unit many folks were struggling with threading a needle and at the end of the unit, all of my sixth grade students created a bookmark project with at least four different kinds of stitches and have learned how to sew on a button. My seventh grade students have all finished sewing a pillow case project. I am absolutely excited for my next groups of students to be able to do the same.
Many of my students come from homes where these kinds of skills aren't the norm to learn. I can now give students the confidence to try something new with their hands and help them to find success. This new skill is 100% attributed to your donation to my project. Thank you for giving my students a chance to try something new :)”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Kellander

Funded Oct 24, 2018Thank you for supplying our class with much needed knives for practice! The lettuce (plastic) knives are a great teaching tool! Every child is able to participate in this lesson now, instead of the previous use of plastic butter knives. Students in 8th grade FACS have the opportunity to learn how to hold a knife properly and use it in the correct way, which is such a great lesson in basic food prep and safety.
The large regular chef's knives are being used as a tool when students make vegetable labs where they will put their new skills to use! One group has already had the opportunity to use the lettuce knives for practice!
We appreciate your help so much and cannot wait to use our new tools :)”
