The materials we are asking for will help all of the children in our classroom! Some of these additions will benefit our special education students stay on task while working in group settings, some will assist our English Language Learners by having visuals, and all students will strive from the resources given to us that encompass our units of study. With your help and generosity these materials will provide hands on learning tools that will build on the children's curiosity, thinking skills, social communication and sensory input. We are motivated to push our students past their setbacks and achieve the goals we know they can accomplish! Some of the everyday items we are asking for are weighted vests and ankle weights to calm our students down, fidget toys for children to use while sitting through group times, a sensory sock to snuggle up in when things get overwhelming and light covers to help promote a more peaceful environment. We are also asking for items that will help the students have hands on materials to use during our units of study. One study that we are lacking items in is our exercise unit. During this unit the kids learn about what it means to be healthy and live a healthy life style. We talk about good foods for our bodies, ways to get up and move and vocabulary that is based around exercise. Because exercise is so hands on we are seeking materials to promote that. This includes weights, a balance board, an air walker and a basketball goal to use in the classroom.
