Funded Jul 5, 2024By the kindness of your heart, this project has been fulfilled. You can rest assured, knowing that students will have the proper nutrition to function throughout their school day by having an ample amount of nutritious and healthy snacks to help them. My students were thrilled to see the snacks on our classroom cart. I have been able to send some snacks home to the students whose families are struggling to put food on the table and they are beyond grateful. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!”

Hands-On Crafts Created by Students with Autism
Funded Oct 21, 2020I really appreciate all of your support for this project! This current pandemic changed the way I had to approach my students. They are profoundly impacted by it. I know that all of the time they are spending on devices to facilitate learning, as well as a means to decompress, can take a toll. I needed to find a way to get them off of those devices and keep them engaged. The Cricut has certainly worked!
My students are absolutely thrilled when they see any machine that lights up. One of my students was pretty familiar with it and navigated perfectly. They were beyond elated to interact with it. So far, we have used it to design our bulletin boards and to make snowflakes.
My next steps are to get my students to use the Cricut more independently. We would love to start providing craft services to other people in our building. Further, we would love to make crafts to sell which is the purpose of the cash register. Unfortunately, we have gone remote a multitude of times and that has made it incredibly difficult for us to get it up and running. Nonetheless, all of the items have been an amazing addition to our classroom. Thanks again for your support!”

Funded Feb 24, 2020Thank you so much for the support of this project. I REALLY appreciate it! As a second year teacher, I've spent some time reflecting on my first year and determining how can I grow and thus maximize my students skills. For that reason, taking the approach on devoting full periods on daily living skills, such as food prep, was needed.
Although our school year was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic the refrigerator made a tremendous difference in my food preparation class. The refrigerator is being used to store beverages that is being sold at our school store, The Corner 6 Cafe. This refrigerator allows us to maximize our food preparation skills by preparing large batches of iced coffee and iced tea to sell.
Even though we are not in the school building I hope that one day we can return and use the refrigerator. During this remote learning period I have been able to think about new snacks and beverages that need to be stored in the refrigerator. My students learning necessary job skills that will be utilized outside of the school building which will thus close the ever growing employment gap for individuals with disabilities is very.
Again, I really appreciate your support to my classroom! This will certainly help my students out immensely.”

Funded Sep 11, 2019Thank you so much for supporting this project. It is greatly appreciated. This is my second year as a teacher and my school has taken on a new approach to maximize my students skill set. I currently teach middle school students with autism spectrum disorder. They have needs that need to be met in order to improve their daily life. For that reason we have classes fully devoted to teaching them clerical, cleaning and food preparation skills.
The items donated like the mixer, mixing bowls, refrigerator and freezer have made such a difference in my class which is the food preparation class. We have been using these items to prepare various baked good as well as store various food items to sell in our school store.
I strive to promote student independence in using these donated items. Using them, I hope to teach my students necessary skills so that they can live an independent life outside of school. Additionally, it will give them the skills to obtain jobs and assist in closing the ever growing employment gap for individuals with disabilities.
I hope this provides some insight on to what goes on at my school with the items you help donate. Again, I greatly appreciate your support to my classroom. It will make a tremendous difference in my students lives.”
