Building 21st Century Learners
Funded Dec 21, 2019Thank you again for your generosity. With your help and the help of others dedicated to education like yourself, my students are able to develop 21st century skills. Students have created sketches and engineering designs using the iPad and Logitech Crayon. In addition, students write and add their own illustrations to their writing with these same tools. They are even able to take audio spelling tests since I have multiple grade levels in the same classroom at the same time. My students love to plan, write, edit, and revise their text based writing using the iPad, Logitech Crayon, and the GoodNotes Application. As I continue on towards my goal for a one-to-one classroom, I could not have gotten this far without you. Thank you again!”

Funded Oct 16, 2019Thank you again for your kindness. As a teacher, I always want to support my students' needs and interests. Growing up in a digital world, my students need to be prepared with 21st century skills. Thanks to you and other generous donors I am well on my way to reach an incredible milestone. My district provides so many great digital resources, but we have limited hardware to use these resources. Several years ago, I set my mind on creating my own one to one classroom. This means that each student could have access to a device during the school day. It seemed like a nearly impossible goal. However, with the help of Donors Choose and generous donors as yourself, I am nearly there.
With these devices, my students have researched, created, planned, documented, and had fun while learning. This month, my students learned about Canada. They used the iPads and Logitech Crayons to write informative essays about their learning right on the iPads. Students were eager to demonstrate their learning even more so because it was written on the iPads. Thank you for making this possible!”

Funded Sep 23, 2019Thank you again for your generous donation. Having this printer right in our classroom has made such an impact. Students are creating their work more and more on our class devices, but they needed a good way to print it out. Before they had to wait until I went home and printed it on my home printer. Now, we can print it right in the class. We can also make a copy which is extremely helpful when a student needs a replacement. I also have a lot of paperwork that I need to scan and upload. Having access to a scanner in my room makes this so much more efficient. On top of all of this, I can plan and print activities to meet my students' needs quickly using the printer. Thank you again!”

Funded May 6, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations. With your help, my students have benefited from the resources for this project. Students are engaged in financial literacy lessons and so much more.
Teaching financial literacy is an important skill for all ages. Students learned about financial literacy through the use of the Apple iPad using an app called Bankaroo which serves as a virtual bank for children without being tied to a real bank account.
In addition, we are creating a classroom economy using the checks, cards, and play money. Students are learning the valuable lesson of earning and saving money while tracking it all using the iPad and application.
Thank you again for making this possible!”

Funded Aug 2, 2019Thank you for your generous donations making it possible to create an engaging learning environment. Students in my class use our digital tools to learn and create on a daily basis. My goal is to continue increasing our digital tools until we have enough for all students. With generous donations, I am on my way to this goal.
My students are eager to learn. Students love to use an iPad to write a story and add digital illustrations. Another way students use these tools is to read digital texts closely, using the crayon to digitally annotate the text. This helps prepare students to be successful with building connections between ideas.
Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded Apr 3, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations. Thanks to this project, my students were able to use the Apple iPad Pro to create green screen videos describing their S.T.E.A.M. projects and so much more. Students wrote and typed their scripts for creating videos describing the S.T.E.A.M. projects. Using the iPad Pro and a teleprompter app with another iPad, the students recorded, produced, and edited their videos. Using green screen, the students replaced the background with photographs from their field trip. Seeing the students take on new responsibility to create content was absolutely amazing. In addition to this, the iPad Pro is used as a way to share lessons on our classroom rug. Furthermore, using the Classroom app from Apple, I could monitor student activity on our other iPads. This is an amazing new part of our classroom. Thank you again!”

Funded Aug 14, 2018Thank you for your generous donations. Your donation allowed the addition our classroom rug, the main attraction in our room. We use our beautiful rug as a place to gather, discuss, create, and so much more. In addition, students can spread our and work on the rug.
Now, our classroom rug is the framework for our classroom library. Students can select a book and cozy spot on the rug to continue on the road to becoming amazing readers. Our guest reader captivates the students as she reads aloud while the students are up close on the rug.
Furthermore, the rug is a great place to conduct mini lessons for reading and writing. Since they can sit closer to the teacher, they are more engaged in their learning. Even my older students love sitting on the rug.
Thank you again for your support.”

Funded Oct 10, 2018Words cannot express how much we appreciate your kindness and generosity. You helped make an impact in the transformation of our classroom. Thanks to your donation, we have added to our classroom technology. My students are curious, dedicated learners always trying to reach new heights.
Apple iPads and Apple Pencils help students discover new learning, collaborate, and create in new and interesting ways. When you walk into the classroom, students are engaged in creating digital writing and collecting new information on the iPads. Students have used the iPads to create posters, books, and more demonstrating their learning. In addition, they can access the many digital resources our school district provides. With the added technology, more students can use the devices each day.
Each and every day I am amazed by my students and the content creation they accomplish. With your help, my students developing their 21st Century skills with the daily access to technology. Thank you again for your continued support.”

Funded Oct 2, 2017Thank you for your generous donation. My students and I have used it everyday since we received it. Although we already had a few iPad Minis in the classroom, this iPad Pro has transformed our learning. From being able to hand write their future career goals using the Apple Pencil to create a photo prop sign to recording videos explaining their learning, this technology has enhanced the education of the our class in many ways. One of my favorite ways we use our iPad Pro is to pull up our electronic resources, such as the textbook, and pull a small group or individual student who might need some extra assistance. We can work right on the iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil. As we were learning how we get food from the farm to the table, we watched videos on the iPad from Discovery Education. The students completed a flow chart, and students recorded videos explaining their learning. I was able to assemble all of the videos of the learning, photos, and student work in iMovie to document the learning process. The students recorded voice overs using the iPad Pro. Finally, the students viewed the final product with such excitement and pride. It was such a great learning experience for all. These are just a few of the many ways your donations have impacted our learning and experience daily. Thank you again for your continued dedication to education.”

Hands-on Learning with OSMO and More
Funded Feb 28, 2017Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. My students and I are beyond grateful for your help. Thanks to your donation, we have our brand new iPad mini and OSMO learning kits. My students love using the iPad mini for practicing reading our district provided e-books and making mini movies related to our learning. Now, my students are ecstatic to get to use OSMO. This bridges technology with hands on manipulatives. Students can't wait to play against each other to build words. In addition, the coding, tangrams, and numbers bring learning to life. When students need a little extra motivation or fun, I let them use the guided drawing app with the OSMO on the iPad. The first time my students saw the video of themselves drawing was amazing! There are so many fantastic reasons to love this combination. I love watching the excitement as students broaden their minds with these products. Thank you again for helping these first graders achieve even more!”
