• Books Are Our Guiding Light!

  Thank you so much for your support our goal of getting books into the hands of my students! They were literally jumping up and down with excitement when they first saw the brand new books on display in my classroom. Now the goal I had of literature clubs is relevant, and achievable ! I have to keep reminding them that this opportunity is a blessing to read such variety of books!

  Having greater choices of a variety of authors has made such a difference in the students willingness to try new texts. I'm now able to have small groups of students rotate through all of the different genres, and allow every student to experience something new.

  Thank you for stocking our classroom back up with the materials and tools that we need to be successful. This is truly important to the success of my students as we work so hard on building skills that will help students become successful. The impact it has made on my students is insurmountable, as some of my students are not in a position to purchase more tools for themselves, and therefore rely on the tools that I have offer them in class.

• Got Readers?

  Funded Jan 14, 2023

  This was a project that was inspired by another teacher. This was one that I wanted to replicate to foster a love of reading amongst 'reluctant' readers. It was the MOST perfect setting. I created a book tasting for my students to read or taste a variety of books to discover stories that they would've never have tried before. Even the most reluctant readers read, even the most beloved readers read; it was a day of reading! My students loved it and asked for more! Now, to further this idea is to create reading groups with the books that were purchased for us!

  During the time of great uncertainty of how the school year of 2021-2022 was going to play out, and the fears and anxiousness of returning to the classroom came about; I sought to find the 'glimmers' within each moment, each day! This encounter of your generosity was one of those glimmers that stood out.

  In a world where we have so many changes in our day to day lives, having the opportunity of students back in the classroom has been an amazing feeling. However, being back in the classroom after a year of distance learning has created a change of learning for all students including myself. Giving the students the opportunity of having flexible seating as offered a type of learning style that is just that; flexible on all accords.

  To learn this way has allowed my students to become more comfortable with their own learning, a relationships with their peers.
