  • Focus Fuel for Kids

    Funded May 8, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your recent donation of Kleenex and snacks to my classroom. Your generosity has made a significant impact on my ability to provide comfort and support to my students.

Your donation has helped me stock my shelves with essential items that bring warmth and care to those in need. The Kleenex will help me provide a gentle touch when it's needed most, while the snacks will fuel important moments of connection and community.

Your kindness has not gone unnoticed, and I am truly thankful for your support. Your contribution has made a real difference in the lives of my students and I am grateful for your partnership in our mission.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and generosity. I am honored to have donors like you who share our commitment to making a positive impact.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Benosa

  • Eat Right, Keep Clean, Stay Healthy

    Funded Jun 19, 2019

My students and I are thankful for all the items you have donated to our classroom to help us stay clean and healthy. They had great big smiles on their faces and was so excited to open the boxes to see what was inside of them. They were grateful for the tissues. It helps the students when they have a cold especially with the flu season coming up. Next, the students love the healthy snacks. As many students skip breakfast or eat too little they get hungry by the first recess. So I am able to give them a snack before lunch. In doing so they can think better and are able to focus

and learn. Last, we are grateful for the hand sanitizers and wipes. It keeps the germs away. The students use the sanitizers every time they walk into the classroom especially if their hands are dirty. They use the wipes at the end of the week to wipe off their desks. We are very thankful for the donations to our class. It will help keep our attendance up and students don't miss out on learning.

The next steps for my students on a current classroom project is to get them thinking about their future and what they would like to be when they grow up and what college they want to go to. I hope to promote AVID strong students so they stay in school.”

  • Let's Celebrate Dr. Seuss

    Funded Nov 21, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations! The students loved receiving Dr. Seuss pencils, multi-colored all-in-one pens, mini notepads, and hats. They also loved reading the "Happy Birthday To You" and "Who Was Dr. Seuss" books. They learned new information about Dr. Seuss they never knew before. For example, they never knew his real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. Also, after reading the "Happy Birthday To You" story I was able to teach students how to write a birthday letter to Dr. Seuss.

During our Read Across America week, students were able to use their pens and pencils to create their own stories just like Dr. Seuss. They also used their mini notepads to write kind notes to each other. Also, they drew their own characters in their mini notepads. In addition, everyone was able to participate in the "Wear Red and White" day to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday by wearing their red and white Dr. Seuss hats.

As 3rd graders we have a program called Accelerated Reader which students read books on a daily basis and then take a quiz after they read each one. Therefore, by promoting Dr. Seuss and his love for reading, it encourages the students to want to read more. I have a student who enjoyed reading "Who Was Dr. Seuss". He loved learning about fun facts about him. For example, he read that his first book was denied twenty seven times. So he learned that writing a book is not easy. He learned that he needs to work hard and have determination, to never give up.

Thank you so much for the donations!”

  • Broadcasting Through Podcasting Makes Learning Exciting!

    Funded Apr 20, 2018

We are grateful for our Podcasting materials such as Zoom handy recorder, Sandisk memory card, portable traveling hard case, and SD card reader. The students love using the materials during centers. They use it during independent work or even when in groups. For example, during centers, students are given a topic to talk about. Some topics are "What is their favorite Dr. Seuss story and why?" or "What would you do to spread kindness in the world?"

They will practice answering the questions first by writing them down on paper. When ready they will record their responses. They like to pretend they are on the radio.

The students were so excited when I opened the box and pulled out the equipment. They were all yelling and clapping excitedly! At first, they were confused and didn't know what it was but until I explained it and told them what it was used for they were excited about it. They couldn't wait to use it and pretend they were "Ryan Secrest" on 102.7 radio.

Our next lesson is writing about an AVID scholar, the students will have an opportunity to create a one-pager to show all the elements of becoming an AVID student. For instance, have good writing, work collaboratively with others, or be organized. I would like the students to share their thoughts about what an AVID scholar needs to do to become successful not only in school but in life. They will share their thoughts by recording themselves. We are planning to add it into the school wide Leopard News where the entire school can listen in as students share their thoughts. Hopefully through broadcasting we inform many students and inspire them to become AVID scholars!

We appreciate all your support in helping the students learn!”

  • Cozy Classroom

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My students are very gracious for your donations of the stools and pillows. The students were so excited to receive them and couldn't wait to use them. They love having the opportunity to choose their type of seating on a daily basis.

They use them everyday throughout the day. They use them while sitting on the floor during group activities. For example, during math centers they like to use the pillows to lay or sit on while using their Chromebooks. Also, they use the stools when they sit at the back table for language arts activities.

This type of flexible seating are beneficial for the students in many ways. They provide students with choice, improve physical health, collaboration, sensory input, and most of all fun! Since using the flexible seating I've watched the students become more engaged in learning, more active, and the room environment has been relaxed. They love the colorful stools and pillows!”

  • Learning With Comfort and Flexibility

    Funded Nov 2, 2017

We are grateful for our new flexible seating materials. The students love using them throughout the day. They use it during independent work or even when in groups. For example, students use the soccer ball-like pillows to lay on the floor while working on their Chromebooks. Another example, is when they work in groups they can go to one of the higher tables to sit on the rainbow stools. In addition, the students use the textured pillows to hold while sitting at our kidney table during guided reading. It helps them concentrate better. The students are very grateful to have the stools and pillows.

The students were so excited when I opened the box and pulled out the different pillows and stools. They were all yelling and clapping excitedly! When I pulled out the stools they could hardly wait to sit on them. I had a few students help me tear all the plastic around it so we could use them right away. It was like opening presents on Christmas day!

Our next lesson is about narrative writing, the students will have an opportunity to create their own stories. I would like the students to go through the whole writing process from prewriting to publishing. I'm hoping students will be able to create their stories and publish them in a hard covered book. The students will love to have something of their own that they've created. They will have something to cherish their whole lives.

We appreciate all your support in helping the students learn!”

  • Lakeshore Supplies Make Learning Fun

    Funded Aug 11, 2017

My students love using their write and wipe pocket charts, whiteboard markers, and Lakeshore mini erasers. They use these materials during fluency and math fun activities. They can quickly switch out a new activity each time. They were so excited and couldn't wait to begin using the materials. They are so appreciative to all the donors who made this possible. We thank you!

We are going to begin learning about the life cycles of variety of animals. The students can't wait to begin doing their own research on the life cycle of an animal of their choice.”

  • Make Something That Does Something!

    Funded Oct 27, 2016

Thank you for your donations! The students are so excited to use the Maker space materials. When the materials arrived to our classroom the students couldn't wait for me to open the box. They were on the edge of their seats trying to get a glimpse of what was inside. When I told them what it was, opened the box, and pulled the materials out, they were in awe and cheered for joy! It was like opening presents on Christmas morning! I cannot express how excited and grateful the students were. They could not wait to build and create new things!

The students will be using them in centers during language arts and math through out the day. They will work in collaborative groups to either build something using the Mega Building Blocks, create a robot, or use the Circuit Snap It Jr. to see how electricity makes things work. They will use the different materials on a daily basis.

With the new resources provided, the students will now be able to engage in new activities, build stamina, and build on their problem solving skills. Students will be able to develop their critical thinking skills as well as learning how to work with others in all subjects across the third grade curriculum.”

  • Nonfiction Reading Promotes Success

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

    Dear Donors,

We appreciate the Scholastic News Magazine donation! The students were able to gain new knowledge about the largest dinosaur found in history. They were able to learn new and exciting information through non-fictional texts. The students were able to determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea. In addition, students were able to ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers.

Reading in our classroom mainly involved fictional texts and some non-fictional texts. The students weren't as engaged in the reading compared to reading the magazines. Therefore, reading the Scholastic News Magazine kept the students more engaged because not only was it relevant and more exciting but they were also able to watch a video that made the reading come to life. The students were able to have an even deeper understanding. Also, by the end of the year the students will be able to read and comprehend informational texts.

All of my students enjoyed reading the magazine! They wanted more to read and they were eager to learn. They stayed focused because it was something of interest. The students who loved to learn about archeology and dinosaurs were especially more engaged.

The magazines were a hit in our classroom and we can't wait to read more!”

  • Let's Get Fit

    Funded Oct 18, 2012

I would like to take this opportunity to show my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Your donation to my project "Let's Get Fit" has helped my students every single day. We have used them to develop gross motor skills, build teamwork, and instill the joy of physical activity on a daily basis. In addition, I enjoy sharing the equipment with other teachers.

My school is going through budget cuts, therefore without your help I would have not been able to afford new equipment for my students to use during PE. The donations to this project have made a big impact on my students. They now have the opportunity to learn the skills to stay fit throughout their lives. It will also enhance their team building skills for their future profession.

Without donors like you, thousands of students in the United States would miss these great opportunities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Benosa
