Let's Go Shopping!
Funded Jan 26, 2018My students and I are using our new resources to keep our classroom store fully stocked. The students unpacked, sorted and restocked our classroom store together. They were able to organize the materials by food and non-food resources in order to make shopping selections easier.
My students were overjoyed when I shared the good news about our project being fully funded. Whenever I received emails, containing shipping information for materials, I displayed the email on the Promethean board and read it aloud to my students. Their faces lit up with joy when boxes began to arrive. They were eager to get those boxes open as soon as they arrived to our classroom.
The next steps for my students is to continue to promote financial literacy through read-alouds, videos, field trips and classroom experiences. We will continue to learn the basic, grade-level, financial concepts such as earning, spending and saving as we move towards the end of the school year. At the end of the year, students will get a chance to write about and talk about their experiences in regards to financial literacy.”

Funded Aug 12, 2017My students and I are using the new resources everyday during our daily schedule. My students have the freedom to choose how they want to learn in my classroom. If they want to sit on a cushion, chair and ottoman or the couch while learning.....they have the freedom to do so! Why? Because comfort matters in the classroom. Learning should be comfortable without any limitations!
My students were overjoyed when resources started arriving! Whenever we would received news that boxes were at the front office, my students cheered with excitement! When they daw the chair, ottoman and couch their faces lit up. I could hear chatters saying, "I can't wait to sit on that!"
The next steps for my students is to write a project for more reading, math and classroom store resources for my previously funded projects. I want to continue to have a classroom that reflects learning in an innovative, creative and fun way!”

Kindernomics: Learning and Earning Our Way!
Funded Mar 29, 2017My students and I used the resources to open our classroom store. Our classroom store is now up and running with lots of items to shop for from money earned from classroom jobs and behavior. The students were happy about the grand opening of our classroom store and were eager to shop!
My students anticipated the arrival of our materials. We tracked the packages every day in which I displayed our donors choose account on the Promethean board for them to see. We also started a countdown in our classroom, which provided another visual aid for us to keep up with. When the boxes arrived, they clapped, hugged each other and jumped with laughter and excitement. The looks on their faces, as I opened the boxes, was absolutely priceless as well as memorable.
The next step for my students is to create another project to go along with what we started with the grand opening of our classroom store. They are eager to transform our classroom into their space for learning. They want to give our classroom a makeover so we have devised a plan to create another donors choose project to redesign our learning space which entails soft seating and bright colors to create a learning environment that is inviting and conducive for learning.”
