  • Cleaning Supplies for Special Needs Classroom

    Funded Jul 6, 2024

Thank you again for donating to my classroom for the cleaning supplies they need for this school year. It has helped tremendously with creating a safe and warm environment in our classroom that fosters independent life skills. We are no longer holding off to do fun (and messy) projects because we can't properly get our room back into a functioning environment.

The students have created independent jobs that each take turns completing, which include vacuuming, cleaning water bottles for the days, cleaning table tops, and organizing the sheets for the next day. Making a space where they need less and less prompts daily is occurring daily! Independence is the greatest gift of all!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer

  • Bringin' It Back with in-Person and Asynchronous Learning!

    Funded Apr 13, 2021

Thank you again for your wonderful contribution to our classroom. We started this school year in full-swing being in-person all 5 days a week again after only coming back in a hybrid fashion from April 2021 - June 2021. A full year of being virtual has really brought to light the importance of routine and consistency a special needs classroom thrives from having.

This purpose of this project was to prepare the classroom for each student to have a safe and socially distant environment in their classroom once they returned back to school. Individual shelves, school supplies, and areas limit the exposure of materials getting mixed and the students actually really enjoy having their own designated space.

The Scholastic program has also provided current events to our social studies curriculum. We have been able to continue projects and hands on events!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer

  • Basic Materials for Not So Basic Students!

    Funded Feb 4, 2020

Thank you again so much for the materials that we are now using daily in both classrooms! These materials help students complete projects that we would usually have to space out father apart because we ran out of supplies. They were so excited for new glue sticks, dry erase markers, crayons, and boards, that they couldn't believe they got new supplies for themselves! There were enough for them to each have their own for each project and they were even more happy to complete the tasks at hand! With your generosity, we are able to enhance our students to work to their highest potential!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer

  • Technology Accessories for Autistic Support!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

These cases for our Ipads have helped so much that our students have gained the independence that their peers from other classrooms have! Our students need extra protection with electronics as they don't always use traditional seating. We also got over the ear headphones from another previous DonorsChoose project so they are now ready to work! Each case looks different, so they are personalized to each person for the day.

Thank you again for your donation, it is so appreciated and we love them so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer

  • From Torn Up to Built Up!

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

Our students have been loving the new headphones they received from our donation. We have at least 3 different academic programs that track their progress on the Ipads. It can be a little bit of a sensory overload if we have 8+ Ipads going on with music and directions playing at one time, so these headphones have really helped our students attain focus on their own work! We also received a new carpet and sensory needs that helped our "Take 5" calming area, meeting area, and sensory room! We love it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer

  • Bring STEM to Autistic Support!

    Funded Oct 30, 2018

Your donation has created a endless possibilities of how we can bring science into our little autistic support classroom. Not only are we sharing the wealth with the other autistic support classroom, but we are now able to keep on the right path with the regular education curriculum. As promised, we were able to keep monthly units of science topics, which certain units becomes a favorite among the students.

Certain students have become very excited to learn about fossils and dinosaurs, while others are getting excited to grow plants and learn about its structure. These programs are also bringing our projects to life within the building. For example, we do not have natural light in our classroom, so we are utilizing plant pots throughout the cafeteria and the whole building will be able to see our progress.

Thank you again for your help. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Bringing STEM and its materials more into self-contained classrooms not only provide a wealth of knowledge, but motivation to these students that they can complete activities similar to their peers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Schaffer
