Building Back in a Flash!
Funded Aug 27, 2022Once again, thank you so much for funding this project. My seventh grade class has used the microscopes multiple times this year. Their focus is on cells, so this has been a very useful tool. In our first unit, we learned that all living things have at least one cell. We used the microscopes to compare two specimens. We had to determine if the unknown specimens were biotic or abiotic based solely on the information we could see through the microscopes. The students enjoyed the challenge of using the microscopes to find cells.
My students have been so excited to have microscopes available to use in class. In fact, the first week or so after the microscopes came in, many of my students spent their free time looking at slides just for fun. For most of my students, this is the first time they have ever used a microscope.
We are currently working on differentiating between - yet connecting - photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Today, my seventh graders will be examining chloroplasts under the microscope. We have not used them in a few weeks, so I'm sure my students will be very excited to see the microscopes ready to use again this morning!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Combs
