Students need books about characters and families whose identities reflect their own to read daily during their reading workshop time. These books will help engage all readers in the room, providing mirrors and windows for students, therefore engaging them further in reading. These books will be used on a daily basis in the classroom in reading workshop, and highlighted in our classroom's library. "You can't be what you can't see." - Marian Wright Edelman Unfortunately, many early chapter books lack children of color. Your generous donation to our project will improve our classroom by building strong readers. This will change our students' lives for the better.
