  • Help Us Stay Powerful and Charged Up!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation of Chromebook chargers! So many of our students struggle with organization and executive function and frequently forget their chargers at home.

Because many classes use Chromebooks for internet access to research, Google docs and Google Classroom for completing assignments, these students struggle to use class time if they are without chargers. Now, I am able to direct students to our charger bin in the back of the classroom and they can carry on learning and working just like all of the other students!

I thank you again, so much, for helping us stay "charged up" and ready to go this year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drame

  • Snacks = Brain Food!

    Funded Apr 10, 2024

As you know, a hungry child can focus on little other than their growling stomach. Thanks to you, I am able to meet this essential need and help students get back to learning. Our snack drawer has always emptied faster than I can refill it, and these snacks have saved the day more times than I can count!

Students always ask for the granola bars, apple sauce, and fruit snacks, and I can see their relief when they know they are here. My students love their snacks and appreciate them so much, and I am so grateful that I am able to provide them. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drame

  • Stock Our Self-Care Station!

    Funded Apr 10, 2024

Thank you so much for donating these necessary hygiene products to our classroom "Self-Care Station!" It means so much to me and our students to be able to meet their needs discreetly, and there does not go a day without at least 5 students stopping by to help themselves to mints, menstrual products, lotion, or hand sanitizer.

Students have often commented on how warm and welcoming our classroom is, and part of that is the knowledge that they can get whatever they need when they come in, without judgment. I am immensely grateful to not have to always fund these items myself because it can add up very quickly. Thank you again for your support!"”

  • Inspire Teenagers to Read With an Opportunity of a Lifetime!

    Funded Jun 13, 2024

THANK YOU for helping deliver copies of TRUE TRUE to our classrooms for our whole-school-read! This is our inaugural year inviting all of our students to read the same book over the summer, and so far....so great!

Kids are reading in book clubs, sharing their thoughts, ideas, and questions about Hooper's book. The buzz is real, proving once again that people who claim to "not like reading" need only one just right book to shake up their perspective on literature.

Don P. Hooper's visit was truly inspirational, with an assembly where he spoke to high school students about his upbringing in Brooklyn, his writing process, inspiration for the book, and answered questions. He also held small group meet & greets where he signed books, took photos, and answered even more questions.

We are sincerely appreciative, and here's to a wonderful 2025!”

  • Support Teen Mental Health With Journals and Coloring Books!

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom! Students love the additional beanbags in our cozy corner, which get used every single class, every single day. Students also enjoy coming to our classroom during their lunch to chill out and have a quiet and peaceful space.

Self-care club students were overwhelmed with the choices of new coloring books and astonished that they got to keep one for themselves, as well as a new set of colored pencils! The cats and other kawaii drawings are adorable and the anxiety level I see on a given Friday always decreases after coloring and journaling time.

Many students in self-care club have been coming back every year and are now in their senior year, the busiest of their lives! They are applying for college, working multiple jobs, playing sports, and watching their siblings. They need their weekly self-care chill time, and you have truly made a difference with your contributions. Thanks so much, again!”

  • Give the Gift of Insight and Empathy!

    Funded Sep 2, 2023

I sincerely thank you for your gift of these memoirs for my students. They read them while writing their own personal narratives and were very inspired to tell their own stories. Many students also chose to use these books as the main text in their large literary analysis project, which shows how much they enjoyed and understood the texts.

The memoirs now hold a prized location in our classroom library, and my students consistently recommend their memoir to other students. These books are getting great use and circulating regularly around the school, even to students that I do not currently teach. Thanks again for your generous gifts to our classroom!”

Our high school students are highly motivated, intellectually engaged readers of all levels. They are extremely opinionated and enjoy debating all aspects of the texts we read. When they get a choice of books to read in a group, they anxiously scan the room for new books and jump at the chance to be the first ones to choose. Our school is a 6-12 community school located in the South Bronx and serves students primarily from the neighborhood. Teachers get to build deep and lasting relationships with students and get to watch them grow from energetic and excitable 6th graders into well-spoken, mature, and powerful graduating seniors, ready to take on the world.
