Stimulating Young Minds With Scholastic News And Time For Kids
Funded Nov 1, 2017Our class wants to thank you so much for helping in the purchase of Scholastic and Time Magazines. We have been reading our magazines daily since they have come in. They provide us with so much information that is new and exciting. This month we have been reading about winter, which here in California, we don't get to experience a lot. Next month we will learn about important figures in history. Science, social studies, and current events all included in these magazines. We appreciate all that you do for kids and we hope you will continue supporting us and many other classrooms. Thank-you very much!”

Mrs. Baldridge

Funded Oct 24, 2016Our class has received their first set of Scholastic News and the stories are great. We have already learned about the Native American Indiana tribe that helped the Pilgrims and how they grew plants for food. We also learned that the tribe still exist today! How exciting this is for my students and the pictures in the magazine allow us to see first hand all the wonderful new things we get to learn about. We can't wait till we get back the school to see what we are going to read about next week. Thank-you so much for helping us get this paper and we hope you will continue helping classrooms with their projects. It is so worthwhile. Thank-you!”

Scholastic News For First Grade
Funded Oct 13, 2015Thanks you so much for all the support you have given to our class. We truly enjoy reading our Scholastic magazines. We have learned so much in just the few magazines we have received so far. Without your support, many of our students would not get exposure to tons and tons of new information. It is learning information that students take home and and share with their families. We also have videos and extra worksheets that we can use to get a full understanding of the world around us.
We really appreciate your donations and hope that you will support us and many other classrooms in the future.”

Mrs. Baldridge
Scholastic News For Creative Minds
Funded Sep 11, 2014We want you to know how grateful we are for helping us receive Scholastic News Magazine for Kids. It has been the most interesting magazine. We have learned about the Santa Maria and what it was like being a pilgrim traveling on the boat. We have read how animals hide out for the winter and how elephants use their trunks. Our next Scholastic is about buying Christmas gift (we think). We will soon know.
My students not only enjoy reading the magazine and completing the worksheet on the back page, we also get an additional worksheet to learn more on the topic. The magazine provides us with a web page to get more info and many of my students can't wait to get to computer lab to see what activity is on the web page for them to do.
Each month we are anxious to see our next topic. We use our magazine as an introduction to our writing topics. So you see this one little magazine provides so much for our class. Thanks again and please keep supporting classrooms.”

Funded Oct 3, 2013We have received our Time for Kids magazine and have already had the opportunity to begin reading and writing about them. My students, as well as the other first grade classes who received Time for Kids, were so excited when the first months worth of magazines came, that we couldn't hardly get them out of the wrapper fast enough. The stories and the pictures are so interesting.
We are going to use our Time for Kids magazines as a source for writing. The articles contain math and science topics that I want my students to reflect on and learn to write their opinion about. They are a perfect way to get students talking and sharing ideas both orally and through writing. The articles can be about things they are familiar with, as well as, topics that are completely new to them. That's what makes Time for Kids so worth the money.
I again want to thank you for supporting us with Time for Kids magazines. Every week we have something to read and write about that is different from our regular curriculum and my students look so forward to seeing a new topic each and every week.”

Math And Science For First Graders
Funded Oct 10, 2012Thank-you so very much for your donation to our class this year. We have been able to purchase some wonderful tool to help us learn about math and science.
We have been able to purchase both math and science journals. We use our math journals to keep new concepts written in so that we can look back and remember how to do them, as well as, writing math stories for both addition and subtraction.
We were also able to purchase science journals and have been working on some new science experiments. They have been really fun and it is so wonderful to see how things work hands-on.
We also have new measuring tool to measure the volume, the length, and the weight of different items. But our most enjoyable items have been our math bingo games. They are great and they really make us think.
Again, thank-you very much. You have been more than generous to our class and we appreciate everything you have done for us.”

Mrs. Baldridge
Time For Our Kids
Funded Sep 23, 2012Thank-you so very much for donating Time for Kids to our class. The students look forward to and completely enjoy reading their magazines every week.
Time for Kids has so many interesting articles to read and learn about. There is also a section where we get to do puzzles or answer questions. Once we read the magazine together in class and have a class discussion, the students take their magazines home to show their family.
We really appreciate all that you do for us and all the other school children. You and Time for Kids have brought the world into our classroom.”

Funded Oct 19, 2010Thank-you very much for your generous donation. This year has been a tough year financially. Parents and our school district are having a hard time affording any kind of extra reading materials for our students. This donation allows our class as younger readers to have materials explaining wonderful things happening around the world and to see and experience different cultures other than our own. We appreciate all that you do for us and so many others. Thank-you again so very much for donating Time Magazine with Curious George to our first grade class. We can't wait to start our journey! ”
