Building Dignity: The Care Closet
Funded Sep 26, 2024Wow! Thank you! We have had several students having difficulty with hygiene as 5th graders and this will definitely help! The students will be so very excited to hear the news. I am sure that this will allow them to take care of their needs and be able to focus on their learning more! Your contribution really means a lot to my students and I and we thank you for you donations. Once again thank you so much.”

Coding Our Way Into Careers We Never Thought Possible
Funded Oct 4, 2023Our Girls Who Code (GWC) program is having a significant impact on students, the school environment, and the community at large. Here are some key ways in which GWC is influencing our students:
Increased Interest in STEM: The GWC program is introducing coding and technology concepts at an early age, sparking an interest in STEM fields among young girls. This early exposure is leading to sustained interest and pursuit of further education and careers in technology.
Empowerment and Confidence: Participation in GWC is building confidence in girls as they are learning to tackle coding challenges and solve problems. This sense of accomplishment is extending to other academic areas and personal development.
Development of Critical Skills: GWC is teaching not only technical skills but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. These skills are valuable across all subjects and future career paths.
Reduction of Gender Stereotypes: By normalizing the presence of girls in coding and tech-related activities, GWC is helping to break down gender stereotypes associated with STEM fields. This can lead to a more inclusive and diverse environment in the school and beyond.Community and Peer Support:GWC creates a community of learners who support each other, fostering teamwork and mentorship among girls. This community aspect is encouraging continued engagement and mutual encouragement in STEM pursuits.
Positive Role Models: GWC is including interactions with female role models in the tech industry, providing students with tangible examples of successful women in STEM. This is highly motivating and providing a vision for future possibilities.
Overall, Girls Who Code in elementary schools is playing a crucial role in shaping the future of young girls by providing them with the skills, confidence, and inspiration to pursue careers in technology and other STEM fields.”
