  • Heads Up for Learning!

    Funded Mar 22, 2022

Thank you so much for generously funding my Heads Up for Learning project. All my students are able to work in the classroom - and the headphones allow for those that need to be listening to their learning to do so without distracting those that are learning in other ways. The purchase also allows for all students to have the ability to use headphones without the financial burden of buying headphones. These headphones have also helped students in other classes during times of testing and other times. Thank you again for supporting myself and my students - we both are so appreciative.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plourde

  • Meeting the Needs of Students at Home

    Funded May 29, 2020

Thank you so much for your support and helping to fund my project. Having appropriate technology at home during this time is critical for my students to still be able to get the instruction they need. The tablet has allowed for me to continue to meet virtually with my students on a daily basis as well as provide assignments in a more efficient way. The all in one printer has also been critical - I have been able to print work at home and then scan it back into the computer to assign to my students. It has also helped that in the cases whereas my students do not have access to technology, I have been able to print work and send it in the mail to their homes. The headphones have helped to keep out the background noise and allow for the students to be more focused during our virtual meets and lessons.

Teaching today is a challenge, you helped to ease that challenge through your contribution to my project. Thank you again for your donation - my students and I are so grateful for your generosity and support of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plourde

  • Reading - Taking Field Trips to Places I've Never Been

    Funded Jul 21, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation of whiteboard clipboards and several Social Studies chapter books to go along with our otherwise dull curriculum. They have both provided my students with opportunities to further engage in the classroom and go beyond the standard textbook information provided.

The clipboards have allowed for my students to better collaborate on a text together - each being able to share his/her thoughts about the text with their partner or write down questions during the text to ask later. Students can easily track what they learned in the text, respond to oral questions, and write questions they were left with through the use of the whiteboard clipboards. Collaboration and academic discourse (students talking) is at the forefront of my instruction and these clipboards have provided those discourse opportunities.

My students love to be read to. They beg for read alouds every day during class. The donation of several chapter books has allowed for me to read to my students on a daily basis, while still covering the standards and curriculum that need to be taught. Students question more with the chapter books and engage in deeper conversations within the classroom.

Thank you for your generosity, your donation will be used year after year in a classroom full of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plourde

Being technologically literate is essential for students in this day and age. It is also a proven fact that students are more engaged in activities that relate to the visual arts and multi-media concepts than regular "textbook" activities. Having access to technology daily will allow for my students to work towards becoming more literate through technology as well as more engaged and motivated in classes. The use of iPads with protective cases can also open up opportunities for my students to communicate with other students around the world through virtual book clubs as well as online forums and discussions, allowing them to grow both academically and culturally. Currently, my students share a set of 30 chromebooks with 60 other students... you can imagine how often they actually get to work on the computers and increase their learning in these other ways. iPads will allow for the students to do quick practice in both math and reading, as well as longer assignments, including those in science and social studies. Most of my students do not have access at home to tablets or computers, therefore, it is pertinent that they get technology education in school. It would be wonderful if I could provide them with this access during the school day and within the classroom. My students would be learning major skills that will not only benefit them in school, but also beyond their school years.
